Another purchase has been made official at the home of Rinascita Lagonegro: the red and white Club strengthens the middle blocker department with the hiring of Gabriele Tognoni, who turned 24 last May, of Piedmontese origins from Alessandria, 203 cm tall. An important and experienced addition for coach Lorizio, despite his young age: the last team in chronological order that benefited from his qualities was Sieco Service Ortona, in A2, in which he scored 49 points in 40 sets played , including 15 winning blocks.

Gabriele’s history in volleyball begins in adolescence, when he joins the youth sector of Occimano, a few steps from Alessandria. During a Regions Trophy (wearing the Piedmont jersey) he was noticed by Modena and at the age of sixteen he decided to move to Emilia Romagna to train at the prestigious yellow-blue school and at the same time also play in the Serie D championship (2016/2017 season). His skills are so evident that they sequentially produce a rapid climb up the categories. Season after season, always wearing the Modena shirt, he first played in a Serie C tournament (2017/2018), then the following year he made his debut in a national championship, the Serie B one.

To go up a further step, the central defender must change city and, consequently, shirt: the possibility of playing in A3 (2019/2020 championship) is offered by Maury’s Com Cavi Tuscania: few appearances (18, 11 points), but notable accumulation of experience. The turning point comes in 2020, when Gabriele’s destiny intersects with that of Sabaudia Volleyball: he will defend the colors of the Lazio team for three seasons, one better than the other. 45 points in the debut championship, 123 in 2021/22, 154 in 2022/23. Remarkable performances that allow him to sign in A2 for Ortona in 2023. Overall, Tognoni can boast 119 matches and 43 victories in Serie A to date, 406 total points of which 122 blocks.

The challenge with the Lagonegro shirt promises to be full of desire and hope: “I am thrilled to join the Rinascita family. My decision to be part of this team was inspired by the trust placed in the coach and the club, who have demonstrated a clear and ambitious vision for the future. I can’t wait to get to know the fans, the true soul of this Club, and to feel the warmth of the Arena. Their passion is an unparalleled force and I am sure it will guide us to great success. I want to contribute with all my commitment and dedication to achieving important goals. I can’t wait to wear the red and white shirt and start this new adventure with great enthusiasm and determination.”
