The entry market of the Lagonegro comes to life, after the renewals of the libero Fortunato and the two spikers Armenante and Fioretti: the Club formalizes the hiring of Leonardo Focosi, middle blocker born in 2000, purchased from Virtus Fano, winner of the promotion playoffs to Serie A2 . An important and quality addition for coach Lorizio, considering the performances and statistics in the championship just concluded.

Leonardo, 205 centimeters tall, a native of Pescia in the province of Pistoia, was undoubtedly one of the best interpreters of his role and an excellent protagonist of the Marche club’s climb to the second series: 54 blocks on the scoresheet in the regular season (top 13 in A3), 149 points in 85 sets played (in six matches he even reached double figures).

Leonardo is the player profile that intertwines perfectly with the corporate policy of President Carlomagno, as sporting director Nicola Tortorella explains: “We are trying to give a very specific imprint to the team, the objective is to bring to Lagonegro young guys, motivated and with significant room for growth both from a technical and tactical point of view: Focosi has all the characteristics we need.”

And Leonardo is very happy to embrace the Rinascita family: “I strongly believe in Lagonegro’s project – his first words as a red and white player – I will get involved as I always have, with hard work and smiles to bring the team back to where it deserves”.

Leonardo’s history in volleyball began in 2015, when he joined the youth team of San Donà in Veneto at the age of fifteen. The following year he got his first taste of a higher category, in Serie B in Monza, where he remained for two seasons. In 2018 he made the big leap to Serie A, his qualities were appreciated in Vibo Valentia (A1, 2018/19 season), in Cuneo (A3, 2019/2020) and in Sabaudia (also A3) the following season. The list of experiences then continues in Grottazzolina, 2021/22 championship, where he achieved consecration among the best young players around: with the Marche club he won promotion to A2 (where he would then play the following year) and the A3 Super Cup.
