He has now become the idol of the younger ones, the absolute protagonist of Smartsystem’s triumphant season but at the same time determined and eager to face the new adventure of the A2 series: Federico Roberti, known to all as “Fede”, will crush again for Virtus with the knowledge that for him, born in 2004, it could be an important year.
Roberti, who is in retreat with the Italian under-20 national team in preparation for the European Championships which will take place in the Netherlands in September, wants to take a small step backwards, thus recalling the Virtussian season finale: “Having landed in Serie A2 with the sports club where you grew up represents the pinnacle for a player, an indelible memory. I think back to past vicissitudes and how we came out of them, we did a great thing.” Then “Fede” surprises us: “In this victory my thoughts turn to everyone, especially to those who set up the Palas Allende to perfection every Sunday and those who dedicated themselves over the weekend to making the car perfect. And of course the fans: our seventh man on the pitch who gave the push and strength needed to win.”
Now we look to the future and the future means the A2 series: “I can’t wait – continues the class of 2004 – first of all to compete with a higher level championship and therefore compete with opponents and players of a certain level, then naturally to training with a team that I’m sure will entertain.”
Federico is particularly confident and also shows great confidence: “I’m sure that our roster will be up to the situation – continues Roberti – then it’s clear that on the pitch we will have to sacrifice a lot in addition to fighting until the last ball, then we’ll see how the match goes season. If we manage to do this, we will be able to get some satisfaction.”
