He is a person who is also making his way in life, given that he is close to graduating in Banking and Finance. Gonzalo Martinez extends his journey with Belluno Volley: he will be a rhinoceros for the sixth season in a row.
EMBELLISHED COMPANY – «The small volleyball club I joined in 2019 – says the twenty-one-year-old, born in Argentina and moved to Italy as a child – has become a renowned club. As a result, I had no reason to choose another club – I’m really happy to stay. Also because, last season, he came close to reaching a historic finish line. And I want to fill that little in the next year, together with my teammates.” Martinez will act in the role of libero, not spiker: «It was the wisest choice. SCHOOL AND GYM – Gonzalo looks back with a hint of emotion: «I was 16 years old and being from Conegliano I covered the distance from Belluno by public transport, such as train and bus. The journey lasted a couple of hours and I returned home late in the evening, at 11.30pm. Then, the next day, school awaited me.” Since then, a lot of water has flowed under the bridge. And the son of an internationally renowned coach, like coach Mario, experienced sensations of all kinds: «From the disappointment for the final of the B playoffs, lost in the Golden set against Bologna, to the joy of the salvation obtained in the first year of A3 . Without considering the feat he almost missed last spring.”
REQUIREMENTS – Martinez’s summer will not be a relaxing one: «I have a few exams left to obtain my degree in Banking and Finance and, for this reason, a period of study awaits me. Furthermore, at the same time, I will try to recharge my batteries and prepare myself from a physical point of view in order to arrive ready for the meeting.” And to the next championship: «The conditions are very good.
