Alessandro Finauri will continue to be part of the Cisterna Volley roster also next season, moving from the role of receiver spiker to libero. Together with Domenico Pace he will therefore be one of the two liberos available to coach Guillermo Falasca for the next Super League tournament. Finauri, 20 years old, 185 centimetres, who grew a lot in the previous season in the top Italian league, comes from the Onda Volley academy and then moved to Marino Pallavolo where he worked for the last four years before the jump to A1. The Lazio libero, together with Pace, thus joins the rest of the already defined team with Michele Baranowicz and Alessandro Fanizza as setters, Theo Faure as opposite, Jordi Ramon, Efe Bayram and Willner Rivas as laterals, Daniele Mazzone and Aleksandar Nedeljkovic as central players.
«After the first Super League championship of my career, comparing myself with coach Falasca, I realized that the fundamental in which I had improved the most was precisely that of receiving – assured Finauri who, after completing his studies at the scientific high school Innocent XII of Rome is enrolled in the economics and finance course at the University of Tor Vergata – furthermore, during the play-offs for fifth place we had the opportunity to test the new role of libero more frequently and I can say that I passionate and so, together with the coach, we decided to choose this role for my future.”
Then Finauri goes back to last season, always played as a libero in the final. «After the MVP obtained in the match against Padova, playing as a libero, the great emotion fully convinced me to continue on this new path and all this was confirmed by the call to the national team to which I responded in recent days with the first collegiate , then there will be the Junior League commitment with Cisterna Volley, so I will return again in the blue shirt to Cavalese – continues Finauri – I take this change of role as a challenge, at 20 years old changing playing style is not easy but mine the goal is to work to be a starter in the Super League as a libero. As far as the national team is concerned, this is the second year, the first I was called up as a spiker and this time as a libero, I will give my best here too because I intend to compete in the European championship, the desire is there, the opportunity also and I want give everything to achieve this goal.”
Last year Finauri responded to the call-up to the Under 21 national team with two collegians in Darfo Boario Terme and Zocca in view of the Under 21 World Cup.
