The other Game 2 of the Serie A3 Play Offs was thrilling, which saw Smartsystem Fano win at Personal Time San Donà di Piave and thus gain promotion to Serie A2. After a start in which Mastrangelo’s team was able to take the lead, the reaction of the hosts was not long in coming, as they equalized the set count. In the third set the team from the Marche managed to make it 2-1, but in the fourth set the prompt response from San Donà once again arrived, gaining the possibility of playing for access to a possible Game 3 in the tie-break thanks to a winning serve. In the tie-break, however, it was once again Mastrangelo’s team that found the breakthrough that earned them promotion to Serie A2, achieved again almost 25 years after the last time. The performances of Giannotti and Dimitrov should be underlined: the former ended his evening with 30 points scored, the latter with 31. For Fano, an excellent performance also for Merlo (17 points).
Magical moment for the teams from the Marche region: Yuasa Battery Grottazzolina, involved in the Del Monte® Supercoppa Serie A2 against Consoli Sferc Brescia, won the Serie A2 championship thus earning the possibility of playing in the SuperLega next season, while Banca Macerata, through the play-off Promozione Serie A3, will keep company in Fano next year.
