After four intense seasons, two Scudetti won, an Italian Cup in the showcase, various finals (complete with world championship silver) and a growth path that has seen him take the team on his shoulders several times, spiker Marlon Yant leaves Cucine Lube Civitanova. He does so with the promise of returning and without holding back the tears due to the melancholy of parting with a Club, a city and many people who welcomed him like a son. A community that followed his sporting maturation step by step until the last challenge in Verona. The match in which, despite an excruciating pain in his leg, the Caribbean giant remained on the field, scoring the decisive points to win the 5th Place Play Offs and leave a legacy for the 2025 Challenge Cup.
Greetings from Marlon Yant:
“When we won the 5th Place Play Off Final I couldn’t hold back the tears, partly for having contributed to achieving an objective that only a few days before seemed complicated, partly because I knew I had finished the adventure at Lube. These four years in Civitanova helped me become a man, improve my technique and manage my athletic skills. Here I found a united group and, in the first seasons, a ‘Cuban family’ on the roster. Winning trophies at a very young age sparked immense joy in me, but also the last two years, more difficult, without titles and with many memorable sporting battles, allowed me to put aside important baggage, making me participate in a significant project. Now I feel the need for a new parenthesis, but it’s goodbye! I already imagine a possible return to Lube in my sporting future. I owe a lot to the Club and I will certainly carry in my heart all the people who shared the journey with me. Thinking back to the chants of the Cucine fans will make me smile again in difficult moments!”.
A.S. Volley Lube thanks Yant for his great contribution over these years and wishes him to achieve his goals. Marlon, the Eurosuole Forum will always be your home!
