The countdown to the Final Four of the 27th Del Monte Coppa Italia Serie A2 has officially begun: starting tomorrow, the weekend of 11 and 12 May, the Cuneo Palasport will host the final rush to award the national trophy.
The Yuasa Battery, fresh from promotion to the SuperLega as winners of the Play Offs and already qualified for the Del Monte® Supercoppa scheduled for Sunday 19 May in Grottazzolina, is already reaching the Piedmontese town which will host the category trophy in an innovative formula that foresees the dispute, for the first time in history, at the end of the championship. In addition to the Italian Cup, a place is also up for grabs to challenge the Grottesi team in the Super Cup.
Grottazzolina, which eliminated Cantù in the quarterfinals, will be the first team to take to the field, on Saturday afternoon at 5pm, for the semi-final which will see them once again face Consar Ravenna, capable of ousting Prata exactly as happened in the playoffs. The two teams now know each other by heart, and only a handful of weeks ago they gave life to a spectacular and hard-fought Play Off Semifinal series which saw the Marches come out on top only in the fifth set of game 3. So there’s a bet to be made , that Consar will try to do everything in its power to reverse the result of the playoff series and earn the final on Sunday, regardless of the absence of Alessandro Bovolenta, who is involved in the national team and replaced, in this final phase of the season, from the Greek Raptis in the role of oppoto. The Yuasa Battery, on the other hand, has no intention of giving up and goes up to Cuneo with the intention of further enriching its trophy cabinet, in a season to be remembered so far.
Brescia and Porto Viro will compete in the other semi-final, on the pitch at 7.30pm, with the Lombards able to oust Siena and Porto Viro who instead got the better of Cuneo, thus forcing the Battocchio boys to attend the Final Four in their palas by mere spectators.
Final scheduled for Sunday 12 May at 5.30 pm, for the awarding of the 2024 edition of the Del Monte® Coppa Italia Serie A2.
Many new features and curiosities related to the event, starting from the game rules: the coaches will in fact have only one time out available for each set. Furthermore, at the end of the Final, journalists and a specially selected jury will elect the best in the field, who will receive the Del Monte® MVP plaque of the event.
