There are just a few hours left until the epilogue of the 2023/2024 Serie A2 season which ends with the awarding of two trophies in as many weekends: the Italian Cup on the 12th at the Palasport in Cuneo and the Super Cup on May 18th in Grottazzolina. Brescia has secured the pass to the final phase in Piedmont and promises its fans to play with the same enthusiasm shown in the quarter-final matches. Saturday’s opponent is Delta Group Porto Viro, a team that showed its best play at the end of the regular season, eliminating Cuneo from the Cup and Play-offs and playing for access to the final promotion with Siena in three matches. Nothing surprising, if you read the roster led by coach Daniele Morato, good at finding the right key to make his 6+1 work as best as possible and take excellent revenge at the end of the championship.
The semi-final promises to be exciting, because Brescia is also experiencing an excellent moment of form and arrives supported by the quality of the performances put in place against Siena. The challenge will be first and foremost between the captains, the setters Garnica and Tiberti: both born in 1980, charismatic leaders gifted with an insidious serve and a cool head. The Venetian opposite Barotto has an explosive talent, while the white-blue Klapwijk has power and a lot of experience. In the centre, in fuchsia black shirts, there are Barone and Zamagni, while this time the former Erati player is on the right side of the net, together with Candeli. Delta Group is playing with Tiozzo and Sette, seasoned spikers, while Brescia is counting on the creativity of Abrahan and the technical maturity of Cominetti. Morgese and Pesaresi face each other in the libero role.
On the Porto Viro bench there are also the former Toucan Bellei and the spikers Pedro, Charalampidis and Chiloiro. The changes in the center are Sperandio and Eccher, while Lamprecht is the second line deputy.
Coach Zambonardi has clear ideas: “We are proud to be among the four teams in this Final four and we face Porto Viro at a good time for both of us. I believe it will be an exciting match, played with quality and which will be decided on the details. They are a complete sextet who are playing at their best, who defend and attack well: we will need patience and courage, but these are qualities we are equipped with.”
