Final Game 4 Play Off Scudetto SuperLega Credem Banca
Mint Vero Volley Monza – Sir Susa Vim Perugia 1-3 (25-19, 23-25, 25-27, 20-25)
Sir Susa Vim Perugia won the title at the end of the 2023/24 season, winning Game 4 against Mint Vero Volley Monza and thus taking home the second Scudetto in their history, six years after their first, and until yesterday only, time.
Poker for the Block Devils, who after having won the Del Monte® Super Cup and the Club World Cup, in January also took home the Del Monte® Italian Super League Cup, with today’s Scudetto thus completing a fairytale season for the Umbrians.
After winning Game 1 at home in four sets, the team coached by Angelo Lorenzetti conceded Game 2 at the Opiquad Arena only through a tie-break, but returned ahead in the series driven by the heat of PalaBarton in Game 3, winning 3- 1. Game 4, the decisive one, first saw the Umbrian team lose the first set (25-19), while the second and third marked the Block Devils overtaking the home team. But it was in the fourth and final set that the victory of Leon and his teammates came to fruition, with the decisive point scored by Semeniuk.
For the fifteenth time (the fourth in a row) the second-placed team in the Regular Season won the Scudetto. The first place finishers in the Regular Season have been Italian Champions seventeen times, the third place eight times and the fourth and fifth place once each.
This is the fifth Scudetto won for Angelo Lorenzetti, the second in a row after the one he won with Trento last season. Not only that: the coach from Perugia thus becomes the first coach in the history of the Super League to win the Scudetto in four different cities: Modena, Piacenza, Trento last year and, precisely, Perugia this season. Among the athletes, Colaci reaches his fifth title, Giannelli scores his third title, while for Solé and Candellaro it is the second. First time as “Italian Champions” for captain Leon and all the other athletes.
