Porto Robur Costa 2030 announces the hiring of Antonio Valentini as Consar’s head coach for the next A2 championship. The 34-year-old Calabrian coach, born in Vibo Valentia on 30 January 1990, returns to sit on the Ravenna bench after the 2020/21 season, in which he was Marco Bonitta’s second. After that year, Valentini spent two seasons at Sir Safety Perugia and one at Gas Sales Bluenergy Piacenza, always as assistant coach. Before Ravenna, his career developed entirely in Callipo Vibo, first as a scoutman then as a second and for a season also as head coach. Also to his credit is his long experience in the technical management of the Italian men’s national team, which began in 2015 when he joined Gianlorenzo Blengini’s staff and was characterized by great results: above all second place at the 2016 Rio Olympics, second place at the 2015 World Cup , the bronze medal at the 2015 European Championships. During his professional career he won an A2 championship, two A2 Italian cups and the Italian Cup, the Italian Super Cup and the Club World Cup with Perugia.
“With great pleasure and enthusiasm I return to Ravenna – the first words of the new coach – where I had a great time and where I was able to work with a serious and organized club and with very passionate and competent people. I really like the club’s volleyball project which for next year too will focus on young people in the wake of a tradition that has become a trademark. The staff will be renewed in many elements but we will still build a competitive team, capable of fighting to enter the playoffs, taking into account the very high level of the A2 championship, where expert players with great technical skills play: a championship that must be faced with the right head and without underestimating anything or anyone. For my part, I will try to bring that wealth of knowledge and experience that I have gained working alongside great coaches, including with the Italian national team.”
