On Wednesday 7 February our Francesco Minelli was a guest on the “Sport Day by Day” program on Canale 88 MadeinBO TV. In this afternoon full of sport, Francesco left some statements about himself, about the current season and about the objectives of Geetit Pallavolo Bologna for this season finale.
We are happy because Pallavolo Bologna finally brought an important victory, even if with two points instead of three. Tell us what happened this weekend
“It was certainly a morale-boosting victory because it gave us some unexpected points against the third team in the standings, in a long away match and at an inconvenient time. Of course, we could have taken home three points given that some things didn’t go right in the third set, but the result still smiles on us and fills us with joy. You can see that the hard work in the gym is starting to bear fruit.”
You are young and at the same time you have already had some experience in both Serie B and Serie A3: tell us a little about your story.
“I was born as a player in Pallavolo Milano Vittorio Veneto, where I played for all the youth teams before moving to Bresso, a small town outside the city. Last year I made the big leap into a completely different category like the A3 series in Garlasco, near Pavia. Finally, here I am in Bologna, where I am experiencing a year full of emotions.”
Tell us for a moment about this season, which you are slowly putting back on its feet. I seemed to see that in the last few Sundays the game has certainly improved, even if you didn’t bring home the results straight away.
“Yes, it was a season that started badly because we were forced to make many stops: many players stopped, others had to play out of position. In that period we weren’t able to have the quality we hoped for in training, and this was also reflected in the matches. Now that we are all back, we have started training as hard as we can again because we know we don’t want this position in the rankings. We know we can do much better, and the game we are showing is always rising. I know that this process is not over, because there are still many games left until the end of the championship, but the small results are starting to be seen even in the defeats and in the way we deal with them.”
