The first Giuliano Lisi Memorial, dedicated to Under 15 teams, was a success and saw some of the young and most promising Italian volleyball talents take to the field. The youngsters from Lube Civitanova Marche, Sir Perugia, Volley Torretta Livorno and Emma Villas Siena competed in the gym in Castelnuovo Berardenga. The event was organized by Emma Villas Siena.
The winner of the trophy was Lube Civitanova Marche, who won 2-0 in the semi-final against Torretta Livorno and then repeated themselves in the final against Sir Perugia with the same score. In the other semi-final the Umbrian team had prevailed against Torretta Livorno 2-0. Mattia Penna, Lube volleyball player, was voted best player of the tournament. Many young talents showed off who already show good qualities today and who work daily with the dream and goal of becoming professional players.
The Castelnuovo Berardenga gym was filled with spectators for this event. Local authorities and institutions were also present: the mayor of Castelnuovo Berardenga Fabrizio Nepi and the mayor of Buonconvento Riccardo Conti carried out the awards together with regional volleyball authorities.
Great performance from the Emma Villas Siena Under 15 boys trained by coach Francesco Marconi who defeated the same age group from Volley Torretta Livorno 2-0 and thus won third place in the Giuliano Lisi Memorial which is currently taking place in Castelnuovo Berardenga . The youngsters of Emma Villas started the match in a vehement manner, immediately taking an advantage. And they are also good at defending it. Siena did well in service and also in the ball exchange. Siena wins the first set 25-20.
In the second set we expect a reaction from Livorno, who in fact tries to raise the pace and intensity of their game. But Emma Villas Siena responds blow for blow. The Sienese also gained a margin of advantage in the second set and ran away in the score. Coach Marconi’s team holds on in Livorno’s final recovery attempt and closes the second set at 25-21.
