Mauro Berruto has been appointed Macerata’s new coach. The 41-year-old from Turin is currently with the Finnish National team with which he obtained a historical fourth place at the European Championships. Last season he was Monza’s coach. Berruto already knows the club as he was the coach in 2004-05. That year, he arrived as the season had already begun. Not only did he take the team to its second Cev Cup triumph in a memorable final but he also led it to the league final.

“I would like to start with two things – said the new coach – I would like to thank Monza, the club, players, staff and fans because I really felt at ease with them, and despite the many difficulties, we managed with them to make amazing things happen. Then, the second thing is a big thank you to coach Ferdinando De Giorgi who obtained important results in the five years he was here, amongst which the first ever league title of the club”.
