Volleyball can and must be a social antenna. The Volley Team San Donà thinks so, a company that participates in the men’s A3 series championship, Personal Time is second in the standings with 10 victories in eleven matches. The results on the court are important, but they are not everything, the club of president Fabio Zuliani is very active off the pitch with some initiatives that embrace everyday life and the social.
These days, financing sport is not easy, much less a secondary discipline such as volleyball, which is too often overshadowed by football.
To self-finance its activities, but more specifically to financially support projects linked to the youth sector, VTC San Donà has created the Help 4 Sport shop in the city center where unused and perhaps uninteresting objects are recovered for commercial purposes. A second chance is given to furniture, armchairs, paintings, dinner sets, glasses, cutlery, sofas, armchairs, objects, comics, clothes, chairs, suitcases, watches and much more.
In the shop there is also space for cooperation for kids less fortunate than athletes, pensioners and other people who can be useful for a social cause.
The shop is a destination for the curious, serial hoarders, collectors, but also upholsterers who give life to chairs, armchairs and sofas. Then there are those who are looking for cheap vintage clothing, or more simply low-priced clothing for working. Help 4 sport is a second chance, which is sometimes missing in life and perhaps is granted to you in sport. Help 4 sport is first and foremost socially useful for the San Donato community, but at the same time an opportunity to grow its youth sector, because after all, where there is sport you can always breathe good air.
The second hand place, for a varied clientele looking for an opportunity, citizens donate, the VTC obtains funds to finance itself. The customers have no social class, they are students, young couples, then there are collectors and those like a gentleman who bought furniture to send to Morocco after the terrible earthquake of recent months.
The idea for Help 4 Sport came to the club’s organizational director Gabriele Busato after a trip to the United States; in the shop in a few square meters there are the purposes of recycling, reuse, solidarity and respect for the environment. The Volley Team Club San Donà empties and frees cellars, it does it for free and then resells everything in the shop.
Soon there will be a larger structure to give more space to objects that deserve a second chance.
