A super Sir Susa Vim Perugia defeats HalkBank Ankaradi coach Boban Kovac 3-0 and flies for the second time in a row to the final of the Club World Cup currently being held in Bangalore, India. Tomorrow at 4.00 pm in Italy, the Block Devils will face the Brazilians of Itambè Minas in the final who defeated the Japanese Suntory Sunbirds in the tie break in the second Semi-final.
An excellent Perugia reached the final, capable this afternoon of playing two sets bordering on perfection. Intelligent in serving, excellent in reception, effective in attack, very solid in the block-defense correlation, capable of keeping the number of direct errors to a minimum. These are the Block Devils in the first two halves, deployed at their best tactically by coach Lorenzetti capable of closing with scores of 25-14 and 25-16. The third set is instead a tangle of emotions. HalkBank, led by its champions Ngapeth and Nimir, revs up and the challenge is point to point. We get to the advantage, Perugia doesn’t score two match points, Ankara doesn’t take advantage of four balls to extend the match to the fourth. Then on the third attempt Semeniuk closes the “smash” and makes his team rejoice.
