Linking the word “Serie A” to the name of Michael Menicali again, after a few years, is a sign that the paths of merit still exist in the world of volleyball. And the good central defender of Cus Cagliari, now Sardinian by adoption, had already clearly had in mind since last year that he wanted to fall into a category that was congenial to him. Now the adventure in the rossoblu jersey in the new category, the A3 Series, has begun in a rather surprising way, with three successes out of four matches:

“This summer, speaking with Meriggioli and seeing the complete squad after the volleyball market, I confessed that in my opinion the team was there. And that we will have been able to do our part even as newly promoted in the new category. We didn’t start immediately, in the sense that there were quite a few new additions and we needed a run-in period in the pre-season, in addition to the fact that the opposing teams know little about each other, based only on the names that are seen after the end of the season. purchasing campaign. So the unknown was there, and the first race in Belluno served to break the ice.”

Then, of course, three successes in the last four races.

“The match that, in my opinion, made us understand that the footing was the right one was the one against Acqui Terme. A match played with character and expressing ourselves against a very interesting team that completes every department.”

Tell me what struck you about the beginning of this Cus.

“I understood that Busch would immediately stand out from the first days. An excellent spiker and a very smart guy even off the pitch. I have been impressed by the last few games of Martin Kindgard, our setter. He is a boy who has character, personality, and who has been able to adapt to the reality of Cus, giving the best of himself. In the last few games he has really raised his personal level and that of his attacking play. Then I cannot fail to mention Marinelli, with whom I previously played for two seasons. He is a player who brings balance and makes his absence felt. He is one of those athletes who appear fundamental in every team and is a real luxury for the category.”
