Reggio also lost in a tie-break against Aversa at their home ground: after suffering the defeat in the first set, the Reggio team did well to recover by winning the second and third; but then in the fourth set Aversa recovered and concluded by taking Reggio once again to the fifth set.
Christoph Marks, opposite player from Reggio Emilia, commented on the match: “It was a shame to lose, and this weighs on us a bit, even though the match was difficult. We however played well, despite the very hot crowd.”
Antonino Suraci, opposite, follows yesterday as spiker: “We certainly lacked a bit of cynicism today. We have been training for weeks to try to bring home these tie-breaks, but it’s not easy. They are a very tough team and we fought until the end. The only thing I can say is that it was a shame to lose, because we believed in it until the end. Now we’ll go back to working in the gym in view of the next match.”
Coach Fabio Fanuli concludes: “We knew that it wouldn’t be easy to come here to play against an organized opponent, who up to now has always played solid volleyball. We did well to take home the chances we created in the second and third set. Afterwards they came back into the game and unfortunately we weren’t able to find the right countermeasures. I congratulate Aversa and we continue with our path, we continue to work, and to think about the future, that is, about the next match against Santa Croce”.
The next match will be played on Sunday 26 November at 6.00 pm at the PalaBigi in Reggio Emilia; Kemas Lamipel Santa Croce will challenge Conad. Tickets for the match are already available on www.liveticket/volleytricolore.it.
