Tasty preview of a championship with an international flavor for Allianz Milano, which, one week after its debut in the 2023/24 Superlega Credem Banca season against Modena, will take part in the “Jesi Volley Cup – The Champions Challenge” on 14-15 October.
The City of Jesi will light up with two days of top-level volleyball. Competing for the trophy with Allianz Milano will be: Lube Civitanova, Rana Verona and the winner of the Greek championship Olympiakos Piraeus.
The presale is already open and the objective of the organizers of JV Sport and the Municipality of Jesi is to create a splendid setting for the public at the Pala Triccoli, a facility with over 4 thousand seats for this first edition of the “Jesi Volley Cup”.
“We are really happy to be able to participate in such a high-level event in a city that boasts a great sporting culture and champions who have brought prestige to Italy in the world” comments the Milanese coach Roberto Piazza. Jesi, which in women’s volleyball has come close to winning the championship several times in the past, has in fact given birth to three of the most successful foil players of all time: Valentina Vezzali, Giovanna Trillini and Elisa Di Francisca, as well as the Olympic champion Stefano Cerioni and two football legends like Roberto Mancini (penultimate Italian coach) and former goalkeeper Luca Marchegiani.
“For us it will be the real commitment and an important test because a few days before the championship we will need to get to know each other better and immediately put the players returning from the Olympic qualifiers on the field – continues Piazza – It will be the first two very high level challenges in which we will let’s report. In Jesi we must start to understand who we are and live as a team” concludes the Milanese coach.
Will it be an immediate rematch of the 2022/23 Scudetto semi-final for Captain Piano’s Milan or will the opponent be the emerging Verona or the difficult Greeks of Olympiakos?
