The second week of preparation for Sir Susa Vim Perugia opened with this morning’s weight training session.
Like the previous one, this week too will mainly focus on physical work under the orders of the athletic trainer Sebastian Carotti, but obviously there will also be technical activity, both individual and as a team, at the PalaSir in Santa Maria degli Angeli under the directives of the coach Angelo Lorenzetti and of his staff. The week will end on Saturday morning before the weekend of rest and physical recovery.
It is Angelo Lorenzetti himself who takes stock after the first mini-cycle of work.
“The approach to work was very positive as often happens at the beginning of preparation. Obviously, the hope is that this aspect will also be common in the coming weeks. We are paying great attention as always in this period to physical work and then, based on the players available, we are setting up the technical work. We have six players available with some roles missing, we have made up for it with some young players, starting this week we will try to increase the technical work and have a little chat regarding the tactical aspect. The increase in technical and physical loads will be the leitmotif of the coming weeks. Obviously I can’t expect the boys to arrive ready from a ball point of view, we will do our best with regard to certain technical situations in order to welcome the internationals as best they can when they arrive. When we are full we won’t have much time so it will be important to understand all together that we will have to go fast”.
He is already one of the Angelo family.
“My acclimatization is going very well both for the welcome received from the old staff and the management and for the location which is very convenient, it allows us to be able to work calmly and to share our thoughts to have a common voice during training and in the game”.
Impossible with Lorenzetti not to talk about the European Championships at the start tonight and who will experience three days of competition right at the PalaBarton.
“I think the national team in Perugia is a great opportunity for the Perugia public to support the blue in the first place and then also to do a sort of preparation in terms of support at the PalaBarton in view of the start of our season. They will have the presence of two of their favorites such as Simone and Roberto (Giannelli and Russo, ed) and it will also be an important opportunity for Perugian enthusiasts to get closer to the building. I hope it will be an exhilarating European Championship, it is a very long twenty-four team tournament, we are happy to have so many of our players as protagonists.
