After the holidays, Vero Volley Monza met today for the first official day of the 2023/2024 season. The sporting year that will see the boys from Eccheli engaged on the field will be the tenth consecutive year in SuperLega and will see the participation of the first men’s team of the Vero Volley Consortium also in European competitions, with the CEV Challenge Cup.

Together with captain Thomas Beretta and centre-back Gabriele Di Martino, well-known faces from last season, the new Ibrahim Lawani, Francesco Comparoni and Marco Gaggini also took part in the gathering, the last two having already moved to the first team at Monza in the 2021/2022 season . The team available to Eccheli is completed by Flavio Morazzini, product of the Monza youth team and the two Under 19 athletes, Gabriele Mariani and Gabriele Pertoldi, waiting for the players currently involved in the national team: Gianluca Galassi, Fernando Kreling, Eric Loeppky, Stephen Maar, Luka Marttila, Arthur Szwarc, Ran Takahashi and Petar Visic.

The day’s program included a first presentation meeting with the staff in the morning, collection of technical material and the usual physical tests in the afternoon. Starting tomorrow, the physical preparation period will begin, both in the weights gym and with sessions on the sand and in the water, in collaboration with the Seven Infinity structure of Gorgonzola. The first official appointment on the calendar for Beretta and company is set for October 22 at the Eurosuole Forum in Civitanova for their debut in the 2023/2024 SuperLega.

Massimo Eccheli (Head Coach Vero Volley Monza): “The main objective of the season is certainly to get to the bottom of the Challenge Cup, a trophy we particularly care about after the qualification we earned in the finale last year. It will also be important to be very competitive in the SuperLega, championship that this year promises to be tougher than last season. At this moment, with the athletes we have available, my staff and I will set up both physical and technical work to find ourselves ready when the national teams return from their commitments around the world”.
