A summer in blue. First engaged in the VNL and then at the Universiade. It ended with a victory, with a gold medal that has been keeping company for days with Edoardo Caneschi, central player of Gas Sales Bluenergy Volley Piacenza who will soon start his third season in red and white.
Born in Arezzo 26 years ago, Edoardo Caneschi began his volleyball career in the 2012-2013 season in B2 with Club Italia. The Tuscan boy is tall, promising, remains linked to the Federation team for five seasons, also playing in A2 in the 2015-2016 season. Sora wants him in SuperLega, in the 2017-2018 season, with the Lazio club with which he remains for three seasons before moving to Verona where Gas Sales Bluenergy Volley Piacenza picks him up in the summer of 2021, just a few hours after the volleyball market closes.
The national team has seen him as a protagonist for years: he is part of the Under 19 with which he wins the silver medal at the European championships, he is part of the Under 20 and the Under 21. And this year he is called up for the senior national team.
“Wearing the blue shirt – underlines Edoardo Caneschi – is always a great emotion as well as an honor. De Giorgi’s call is the result of two years of work done here in Piacenza where I feel very comfortable. I work together with important players from whom I have a lot to learn”.
A few days at the beach in Marina di Grosseto, then a detour to Sardinia. To then be present at the first seasonal bell of Gas Sales Bluenergy Volley Piacenza.
“I need to take a break for a moment – underlines the red and white central player – it was a very intense summer of work but also of personal growth not only on the pitch and above all full of great satisfactions”.
Gold medal at the Universiade played in China…
“Beyond the important medal won, it was a very nice experience, all things were done to perfection, I will remember it for a long time. As a competition it was very positive, it’s true I played less than I would have liked but it was important to be there and get on well with my teammates”.
Volleyball arrived almost by chance in the life of Edoardo Caneschi.
“I played soccer, I was about twelve and I stopped, my mother took me to the gym and there I started playing volleyball. Not out of love for this sport but ours was a casual encounter, love came later”.
What does volleyball represent for Edoardo Caneschi?
“It has become my job, it all started by chance as a hobby, then it became my profession.
