Exactly one week until the first official moment of the 2023-2024 Gas Sales Bluenergy Volley Piacenza season. The start of the preparation of the red and whites is in fact set for the afternoon of Monday 28 August at the PalabancaSport.
In all probability, for that day there will be few players available to the new coach Andrea Anastasi: six at most, also depending on possible and further call-ups with the national teams who will certainly already commit Yuri Romanò, Leonardo Scanferla, Yoandi for at least the month of September Leal, Ricardo Lucarelli, Antoine Brizard, Roamy Raul Alonso, Robbert Andringa and maybe Fabrizio Gironi. Instead, all the other players should be present at the start of the activity, including two of the three new faces: setter Bruno Dias and center back Fabio Ricci.
Even the technical staff who will assist Andrea Anastasi from the day of the meeting will not be complete. The assistant coach Antonio Valentini, the assistant coach Matteo Bologna, the physiotherapist Riccardo Anfosso were present. In this first phase, the athletic preparation will be taken care of by Francesco Rizzi pending the return of Davide Grigoletto engaged with the Swiss national team. Scoutman Gabriele Antola will join the group after his commitments with the Bulgarian women’s national team.
“It is logical that a particular preparation is about to begin, as always happens to first tier teams, that is, with few players initially available from the squad – underlines Andrea Anastasi – and it is clear that on the one hand we technicians like to work with the full team , but in any case it is a situation that indicates that there are important players in the squad. The idea is to work progressively in the first fifteen days to test the conditions of the players available. Then we will carry out a work above all on individual qualities. And after the first two weeks, we’ll see if we can add some guys from the youth sector and see if there’s any players without a contract who can come and help us out.”
Andrea Anastasi also already sets goals.
“The squad is identical to last season and this is definitely an advantage as we will only be fully booked shortly before the start of the season. We will participate in four events and I expect to be able to reach the final of some of these, it will be a very balanced championship, in addition to Trento, Perugia, Lube, I see Modena very well and Milan has built a top-level team “.
