Less than a week after the resumption of activity at home Cucine Lube Civitanova, the red and white coach Chicco Blengini faces a first question and answer in view of the official meeting scheduled for Monday 21 August at the Eurosuole Forum.
For most of the preparation, the team will not be complete, but the staff will be able to count on the presence of young people from the Academy.
Blengini: “Especially in the preseason it is a great advantage to have young players in the group who, although young, are in good condition having worked for a good part of the summer. It must be said that the level of the SuperLega, both in terms of mentality and the type of work, is not easy even for emerging players with established qualities. Consequently, the advantage is not only for the first team, but also for the very talented boys of the Academy who can start to raise the bar and realize what the final goal will be. The transition towards the ‘volleyball of adults’ is not only technical and physical, but also character and behavioral. So an excellent chance for them and useful resources for us who won’t have the internationals available”.
In this period fingers crossed for Simone Anzani. What have you said to each other in the last few days?
“To tell the truth, I have talked a lot with Simone since the beginning of his ordeal, or rather from the first episode of the stop. I immediately wanted to make him feel my closeness and my support. Naturally I want to stay up to date on his condition and I have a direct line with the national team staff. The situation must be approached with great caution, I am convinced that the maximum will be done for our athlete in the combine between the Club and the federal staff. Simone is very determined, even if the final response will not depend on willpower. I think it is right to think about the story by focusing on the personal and human point of view. Simone’s health comes before the team and the volleyball played.
The preseason calendar offers challenges with rivals from A2 and SuperLega.
“We still need to know for sure how many athletes will be absent for most of the preparation. Having a small roster in September and October, the best way is to carry out targeted tests with other teams at the end of the work week to train effectively. I think it’s a good opportunity to show off. I’m talking about the newcomers, to start chewing the Lube environment, and who on paper will not be the owner. It will be important for the boys both to understand early what our shirt represents and to grow quickly because all the players in the group will be needed during the year.
