Virtus Aversa by Wow Green House Aversa completes the setter department. The Norman company has acquired the services of 25-year-old Luca Spagnuolo, who will join the other setter Riccardo Pinelli in the control room, forming a highly talented and experienced couple. Luca Spagnuolo took his first steps in the world of volleyball in the youth teams of Trentino Volley, where he spent two years before returning to his hometown. In the 2014/2015 season, with Mosca Bruno Bolzano, he took part in the Serie C championship, obtaining promotion to Serie B. After two seasons in Serie B, he won a prestigious promotion to Serie A2 at the end of the 2016/2017 tournament. After a season in Serie A2 with Bolzano, Spagnuolo then played for Mondovì in A3. In recent years he has played in Serie B with the Scanzorosciate team and then with Valtrompia.
Sporting director of Virtus Aversa, Alberico Vitullo, declared: “We are very happy to have Luca Spagnuolo in our team. He is a player who will certainly be able to give us his valuable contribution throughout the season. We are sure that his presence on the pitch and in the locker room it will be important in view of the difficult season we are about to face”.
“The company’s proposal convinced me right away – said the lifter -. Talking to both the sporting director and the coach, I understood that it was a solid project and therefore I decided to embark on this adventure. I also have Campania origins and the possibility of playing in the South excites me a lot, considering that until now I have always played for teams in the North. This championship will certainly be competitive and demanding, away matches throughout Italy will put us to the test, but I’m sure we’ll give our all in every game. I have never played at the PalaJacazzi yet, not even as an opponent, but they tell me that the public is very warm and passionate so we will certainly count on them for the right support in this splendid challenge”.
