Power, technique and talent: these are the qualities of Canadian hammer, born in 1998, Eric Loeppky. Place four of Vero Volley Monza, back from three excellent consecutive experiences in Italy with the shirt of Ravenna, Padua and Taranto, is ready for a new adventure, to be experienced, between Italy and Europe, in the CEV Challenge Cup.
Equipped with a great serve, Loeppky finds two national team mates in the team, Stephen Maar and Arthur Szwarc, both authors of a super season in the Monza jersey and for this reason reconfirmed at the court of coach Massimo Eccheli, and an athlete with whom he shared the experience from Taranto, the French Ibrahim Lawani. The Vero Volley spiker was born in Steinbach and grew up at TWU (Trinity Western University), where he stood out as one of the Spartans’ best players (nicknamed “King of Aces”), also winning three Conference titles and two National titles. In 2020/2021 it is Ravenna that takes him to Italy, showing off with excellent performances that contributed to the salvation of the Romagna people. After a season in Padua and the last one in Taranto (second best scorer and ace man of his team behind Antonov), both closed with a stay in the top category, Loeppky, at the moment aggregated to Canada for the 2023 VNL (his debut with the senior national team was in VNL 2019), he will live a new chapter in his career with Vero Volley Monza.
Among the curiosities that concern him, in addition to being a son of art (his father Greg was a volleyball player who represented Canada at the World Masters Games in Edmonton in 2005 and was an important beach volleyball player in the Winnipeg region) , won a silver medal at the 2021 Norceca Championship with the Canadian senior national team and two bronze medals (Norceca Under 21 in 2016 and Pan-American Cup in 2017) with the youth teams.
