Winning in Belgium 3-0 or 3-1 and repeating the Golden Set: this is the last European mission of the Valsa Group Modena. The formation coached by Andrea Giani will in fact challenge Knack Roeselare tomorrow evening at the Tomabel Hall in Roeselare in the second leg of the CEV Cup 2023 Finals, where the Cup will therefore be assigned, with the first serve at 20.30.
In the first leg match, last Wednesday, the yellows had surrendered in three sets in front of their fans, complicating their European climb. The Valsa Group will therefore have to win four sets to win the trophy in the very hot Belgian arena. To do this, the Emilians hope to recover the captain, Bruno, who went out on 17-11 in the third set of the match against Piacenza in the Play Offs following a right ankle sprain.
Knack Roeselare, on the other hand, arrived to play the CEV Cup Finals as the “first” team drawn from the Champions League: third in group C, the same as Civitanova, with 3 wins and 8 points, they made their debut in the CEV in the Quarter Finals in the Belgian derby with Greenyard Maaseik, and subsequently they ousted Bluenergy Daiko Volley Piacenza in the Semifinal. In both double-header matches, the team coached by Vanmedegael won the first leg “by three” between friendly walls, only to lose 3-0 in the second leg away and qualify for the Golden Set. The Belgian team last May won its second consecutive championship, bringing the number of titles won to 13 since 1964.
The return match of the CEV Cup Finals will therefore be played between Game 4 and Game 5 of the Quarter Finals Play Off SuperLega Credem Banca: Valsa Group Modena will in fact be back on the field on Monday 10 April in the last Emilian derby of the season with Gas Sales Bluenergy Piacenza, with a place in the semi-final against Itas Trentino up for grabs.
