The words of Yuki Ishikawa after the extension of the contract that will bind the Japanese player to Allianz Powervolley until the 2024-2025 season. An important confirmation for Lucio Fusaro’s club, which during the season is still underway ensures the captaincy of the Japanese national team, reiterating the faith in the player’s qualities and the important role he has carved out for himself within the Milanese team.
Yuki Ishikawa, you confirm the Allianz Powervolley Milano shirt for the fourth time in a row, can you tell us your emotions?
I’m very happy to be here in Milan again next year, even though we’re still in the league and I don’t know much what to say, I’m just very happy.
Since you’ve been in Italy, as you’ve already told us, you’ve grown a lot. What awareness are you carrying with you, both as a player and as a man?
For me Milan is the best team, since I arrived in Milan I have grown a lot, and every year as a team we have added something, we are doing well. I want to grow, both individually and as a team. Even as a man I am growing a lot, being captain of my national team helps me a lot in this and allows me to help the team, I want to continue like this next year and I want to put my “being captain” on the field more often.
Compared to your first year in Milan, what do you feel has improved in particular?
When I arrived there was covid and the public wasn’t there, unlike this year where many people follow us, this has changed everything. If there are many fans, the motivation becomes very high.
We are almost at the end of the Regular Season and right now nothing is certain, every game is like a battle in view of the Play Offs. How are you experiencing this championship as a team?
The championship is very complicated, this year it is like this. The first leg was a bit like this with a few defeats, but I’m happy with the qualification for the Final Four of the Coppa Italia. This is a very important moment for us, Piacenza, Trento, Civitanova and Taranto are still waiting for us and each of these matches will be like a final for us, we have to prepare as best we can.
