2022 first gave Emma Villas Aubay Siena salvation in Serie A2 at the end of a demanding path, with a run-up carried out starting from a difficult situation but experiencing an absolutely important second part of the second season, and with repeated victories up to the success achieved in Santa Croce sull’Arno which led to the achievement of the objective. And then there was the second half of 2022, the one that Siena experienced in the Superlega tournament, going to face the greatest international champions of this sport. The championship will resume on Sunday 8 January at the PalaEstra when the match against Allianz Milano gets underway at 15.30 (the presale will start tomorrow at 12 on the CiaoTickets circuit); it will be the first of nine “sports battles” from which Emma Villas Aubay Siena expects to achieve another salvation, this time in the top Italian championship.
President Giammarco Bisogno, what is your sports balance for the year 2022?
“The first part of the year ended with a salvation in Serie A2 which was won after excessive suffering. In my opinion, that team and this club could not afford to make an A2 with the aim of saving themselves. Let’s say that that was the minimum wage, also due to the quality of the players we had on our roster. Then there was the second part of the year and the choice to take part in the Superlega championship which in the end was an almost obligatory choice. No other Serie A2 club wanted to do it, we made our assessments and felt it was right to participate in a beautiful and prestigious tournament like the Superlega. We did it for the club, for the public, for the fans, for the sponsors who support us. We are facing champions of the caliber of Giannelli, Leon, Michieletto, and this fact alone cannot fail to fill us with satisfaction. Obviously we were aware that the Superlega adventure would have been complicated, the standings now say that we are twelfth. If I had to rate 2022 I would give a skimpy 6”.
