Santa Croce got off to a brilliant start before Padova made its comeback in the third. The atmosphere at the PalaParenti was electric as Padova escaped in the fourth too thanks to De Marchi. The ‘wolves’ quickly found themselves with a mountain to climb at 6-15. A tie-break seemed inevitable but the hosts cut down the deficit bit by bit until it eventually tied it at 21. After some spectacular digging, it’s Mattioli who smashed down the winning points that gave the three points to Santa Croce.
