The data of the Sponsor Value research by StageUp and Ipsos highlight the great growth of the top volleyball league. Among the fans many young people and a substantial balance between male and female audience.
At the end of the 2021/22 season, the pool of people interested in the volleyball SuperLega, the top men’s championship, is 15,419,000 people. The number reflects an increase of + 8.8% compared to November 2021, and even 3.7 million units compared to May 2020.
The data emerge from the May 2022 field of the multi-client opinion poll Sponsor Value of StageUp and Ipsos, born in the 2000/01 sports season, considered the auditel of Italian sporting and spectacular events and representative of the universe of the Italian population aged 14 and 64 years old. The more than 15 million fans of the SuperLeague represent the highest number ever reached by the event in the last 20 years. A figure all the more flattering when compared to those interested in Serie A football, which, in the same survey of May 2022, reached 28 million, a stable figure compared to 2021.
The target audience is characterized by a growing balance between men (54%) and women (46%), young age, medium / high income (68%) and possession of a diploma or degree (73%). The fans, or those who follow the championship “regularly” or “fairly regularly”, represent 32% of the total followers and show an even greater gender balance (men 53% – women 47%), young age (40% is between 14 and 34 years old, 44% between 35 and 54), an accentuation of the presence of fans with medium-high income (69%) and possession of a diploma or degree (74%).
