Among the 14 gold medals at the Under 20 European Championships there is also Matteo Staforini, libero of Top Volley Cisterna. A European champion at the court of coach Fabio Soli to enrich a high quality roster where Staforini will team up with Damiano Catania. Raised in the youth academy of Diavoli Rosa Brugherio, the libero from Bergamo, born in 2003, is 192 centimeters tall and already has two seasons in the men’s volleyball top national series. After two years under the Allianz Powervolley Milano he has landed in Cisterna where he will wear the number 15 shirt of the same number worn with the under 20 European champion national team.
Matteo Staforini (Top Volley Cisterna): “We were great, winning the European title gives you great emotion and I am very happy to have been part of this group. We started training in June and spent a whole summer together. My first thanks goes to my teammates, the technical staff and the group that followed us in the enterprise. I’m on my way to Cisterna, my next destination and can’t wait to take the field with my new teammates and talk to coach Soli. Our goal this year is to confirm participation in the playoffs, the team is very competitive. The championship starts in a week, we will face my former team, it will be a special match for me. We want to do well and take the victory home ”.
