Trsining has started in preparation of the first match of the quarterfinals on thusrday at 18.00 at PalaCatania against Taviano.
Stefano Moro is also warming up the engines (top scorer of the regular season with 619 points): “Taviano is a tough cookie, an opponent on our level, we will need to work hard. We have been very good at coming in 5th, a place which allows us to play at home in Match 3 if played. We have done great in front of our supporters, the more people there the better”.
How is the team for thursday and the playoffs in general?
“We did not need Quiroga and Koch’s absence, but if bad luck and viruses will leave us alone, we know we can do well. Their replacements are valid players. When Niero had to replace Koch, he played with a personality and we won. Our second setter is young, I often support him on court because I want him to be at ease and play like he knows how to. We are covered in Quiroga’s place too with Kapfer, the new purchase, who integrated well and he is a valid player with an international experience and his contribution could be important.
Certainly Quiroga’s absence makes a difference though”.
What is the favourite team to win the playoffs do you think?
“Certainly not us even though we have important cards to play. We have Verona on our path who have not done great at the end of the reg. season
We need to get to the semifinal and we will meet them, it is a long journey anyway”.
