After the championship it is the CEV Cup’s turn. M. Roma Volley is meeting Buyuksehir tomorrow in Istanbul to go through to the final eight.
Hubert Henno does not trust the match which could be easy on paper but it is more dangerous than it looks.
“It is alwasy difficult to play with these types of teams. that is why we need to go on court without undermining the opponents, also because they have a lot of information about us, being international players. Their most dangerous player is the Argentine Marcos Milinkovic, who also played in Italy”
Motivation will make the difference. Theirs is very high. It does not happen very often to meet an Italian team. Roma needs to do the same. Henno says: “We cannot let them surprise them, like it happened with the Finnish in the previous rounds. The CEV Cup does not allow false steps: if you lose you risk not to recover in the second leg”.
With regards to the CEV Cup, coach Roberto Serniotti has expressed himself already, judging it, for some aspects, more difficult than the Champions League. “He is right – says the libero – because the Champions League is played in Pools so you can afford to lose one or two matches. Not in the CEV Cup. the level of the two competitions is now on a similar level. The only difference is that the Champions League is surely more prestigious”.
M. Roma Volley is in good shape. Against Piacenza it could have gone better, but it was a deserved victory anyway. “Now we are healthy, in Paicenza we scored two points against a great team starting well after the break. Many our future engagements and we will try and face them at our best”.
It is a delicate moment. This phase between two breaks, includes 5 matches in 14 days, so one match evert three days. “To get over this phase we would need more time to rest and train together but it will not possible” – concludes the libero.
