It was a great start of Del Monte Supercup at Eurosuole Forum in Civitanova with the first semifinal between home team Cucine Lube Civitanova defeating Azimut Modena 3-1 in a very intense game. There were great enthusiasm on the stands for the win of the home team, after Giampaolo Medei’s team badly lost first set 16-25, with alot of troubles in attack for Lube. 17 cameras for this great game broadcasted by Rai Sport, with plentyof top players on the court, waiting for next second semifinal between Diatec Trentino and Sir Safety Conad Perugia.
After a great first set for Radostin Stoytchev’s team, who dominated on 11-4 first and 22-11 then, winning the set 25-16, Cucine Lube fought back in second being always in front, closing the partial on 25-19 and tying the game. In third it was the key of the game, the real turning point of the semifinal. Tied at 21, Sokolov put a break on the court, and Kovar gained two set points on 24-22, closing the set with a mistake of Ngapeth in the serve. Early in the fourth set Lube seemed to be the owner of the game at 9-4, but Modena fought back, arriving at 20-21, but in the end Lube won 25-22 the fourth set and the match, clinching the access to tomorrow’s gold final.
Giampaolo Medei (Cucine Lube Civitanova): “We had a bad start, probably we were too nervous in front of our fans. It was a battle as I expected, I asked to the guys to be ready to suffere, And so they did. I’m happy for this win, the players grew up during the game, this is one of the most positive things of the day”.
Tsvetan Sokolov (Cucine Lube Civitanova): “It was a tough game, we knew this. We made alot of mistakes but we played our volleyball until the end. We don’t have to forget that we are playing together by two days, with the last adds from the national teams. We are a team, that’s our strength”.
Radostin Stoytchev (Azimut Modena): “This was the first game of the season, we knew we could fall in troubles. We have to work on our mechanism, and to get high the level of our play, with dedication and mentality in practice”
Tine Urnaut (Azimut Modena): “We played a big first set, in the second we suffered , and we weren’t able to fought back. This is our first game, we will work to improve our game looking forward next games”.
