Cucine Lube Civitanova flies to Champions League Final Four at PalaLottomatica in Roma next 29th and 30th april, where they will face the hosting team, fellow italian Sir Sicoma Colussi Perugia.
At Eurosuole Forum in Civitanova, Gianlorenzo Blengini’s team defeated clearly Azimut Modena, after the clear win in Game 1 last week. In first set Lube took an important lead on 16-11, but with Swan Ngapeth in the fundamental opf serve, Modena came back with a 5-0 break, grabbing the tie at 16. A couple of bad mistakes for Luca Vettori and Nemanja Petric gave to Lube the lead on 21-17, for the 25-21 win in first set. In second Civitanova took a 9-6 lead, but once again Azimut came back, taking the lead on 10-9. With a great turn in serve of Davide Candellaro, Blengini’s team grabbed a fundamental lead on 21-17, winning again 25-21 the second, clinching the Final Four spot. In third set it was only Lube on court, who dominated the partial since the start, winning 25-18 in the end, concluding the game 3-0. Best scorers for Civitanova were Osmany Juantorena and Tsvetan Sokolov with 13 points apiece. For Modena 11 points for Earvin Ngapeth, with the other two hammers Nemanja Petric and Luca Vettori in trouble in attack, with poor percentages (28% Petric and 25% Vettori). In the end a good team’s performance for Lube, with all the players on the court playing for the team as a team.

Simon Hirsch was great in first two sets for Monza (in the end 25 points for him), together with Christian Fromm (16 total points for the german), but in third Molfetta fought back with Joao Rafael, Bogdan Olteanu and Giulio Sabbi, who drove Exprivia to an important 25-20 win in third set. But in fourth Gi Group stepped up, starting with a couple of important breaks, taking the lead on 15-8 nd never look back, winning in the end set and match 25-17, clinching the Playoff Challenge Final Four spot, together with Calzedonia Verona, Lpr Piacenza and Bunge Ravenna. Miguel Angel Falasca’s team will face Lpr Piacenza in the semifinal.

Simon Hirsch (Gi Group Monza):Never been easy to play in Molfetta, we were good to close the match in last set and clinch the Final Four spot. They were strong all game long, especially with Sabbi and Olteanu, but in the end we grabbed the win, we are very happy for this”.

Alberto Polo (Exprivia Molfetta):
We lost, we have some regrets for this, this is the end of our season. It was an high and lows game, some of us weren’t in perfect shape, and we paid the price. Our fans as usual were great, I hope we will continue to play in this great arena”.
