Play Off Challenge UnipolSai

Game 2 of Unipolsai Playoff Challenge, all games live on Lega Volley Channel.

Biosì Indexa Sora awarded by Coni CIO Lazio as Best club of 2016, will face on the home turf powerhouse Calzedonia Verona, after the great comeback in Eighth Finals versus Kioene Padova. Game 1 in Verona gave more confidence to Maurizio Colucci’s team, a tie break loss which showed all the power and potential of Sora in competing also with big teams. Calzedonia Verona, after the painful elimination in Quarterfinals of Playoff suffered by Azimut Modenaafter being in front 1-0 in the series, is facing Playoff Challenge with the right attitude, desipte the suffered win in Game 1 on the home turf versus Sora. Game 2 will be a very interesting game, with a road win Nikola Grbic’s team can seal the 2-0 lead in the series trying to clinch semifinals in Game 3 in front of the home fans.

Top Volley Latina once again will need a comeback, as they did in Eighth Finals versus Revivre Milano. Latina suffered a tie break loss at PalaBanca in Piacenza after being in front 2-0, trailed by the home team who earn the win. On the home turf at PalaBianchini, Daniele Bagnoli’s will need to be more consistant to grab the tie in the series. LPR Piacenza did a reat job in coming back in Game 1 trailing from 0-2 deficit, showing a mental strength together with lack of focus, high and lows for Albert Giuliani’s team, as they did more or less all season long.

Exprivia Molfetta will play on the home turf at PalaPoli trying to avoid the 0-2 in the series, playing for the tie trying to take advantage of the strong effort of the fans of warm PalaPoli. Molfetta has been in front in Game 1, without being able to keep the lead and losing the game despite the usual great offensive effort of Giulio Sabbi, who will need 9 more points to reach 600 in the season, and 20 more attacks to reach 500. Gi Group Monza is preparring very well these Playoff Challenge games with particular attention to the intangibles, with Miguel Angel Falasca’s team who will need to contain the power in attack of Molfetta, especially on the home turf. Will probably a long series.

Bunge Ravenna will need the help of the fans next monday in Game 2 at PalaGalassi (former PalaFiera) in Forlì, with cheap tickets (5 euro) and free access to all season ticket holders. Ravenna is in front 1-0 in the series after the road win in Calabria last sunday, and will try to take advantage of this home game to increas the advantage in the series. Tonno Callipo Vibo Valentia won 6 of 9 games versus Ravenna, but in Game 1 Ravenna grabbed the win, with an exciting fourth set at the extras, won by Bunge 28-26. Now Waldo Kantor’s team will need to step up, to stay in the series and grabbing the tie.

Mattia Rosso (Biosì Indexa Sora): “I hope will be a balanced game, the teams are pretty similar in this part of the season. Game 1 was very balanced, we were so near to a win, also in the tie break, but they have plenty of big players, also from the bench, alot of experienced athletes, who helped Verona to win the game. We need to improve our fundamental of block, and improve in defence especially trying to contain the attacks from place 4. We are working on this”.

Stefano Mengozzi (Calzedonia Verona): “We have to play with the right approach, coming into the game with the right step, and fighting until the end on every single ball. They have nothing to lose in this series, they play without pressure, as they showed in Game 1. They will give everything since the start”.

Fabio Soli (Bunge Ravenna): “Tonno Callipo plays a simple volleyball, with continuity and making few mistakes. We’ll need to keep high the intensity of our game. They didn’t have so many alternatives in attack, but they have quality and a fighting attitude. We have to play the same way we played in Vibo, searching more cintinuity and limiting the mistakes”.

Davide Marra (Tonno Callipo Calabria Vibo Valentia): “We fight in Game 1, we weren’t at our top of shape, but in first and fourth set we played a good volleyball. We know these two teams are balanced, as balanced will be the series. If we want to win, we will need to be strong without making mistakes”.

Will not be easy, they have great players, on suday they showed they can react in tough situations. We will play our game trying to do our best, as we did last sunday in Game1″.

Luca Tencati (LPR Piacenza): “Game 1 was a particular game, we were coming from 10 days without official games, so we were without game rhythm. We would need to go after the disappointment of the elimination by Cev Cup and Superleague Playoffs. After the bad start we found the right rhythm and played some good volleyball. In Latina we have to start with the right focus, trying to grab the 2-0 in the series”.

We will play in front of our fans, we should take advantage of this”.

Thomas Beretta (Gi Group Monza): “It was a good game for us, as we did in regular season we played our best volleyball, with good serve and a good job in defence and down the net. They are storng on the home turf in front of their fans, we had great intensity in this week, we practiced with focus, we want to reach our goal, the Final Four, so we will try to win in Puglia and close the series in Game 3″.

Serie A2 UnipolSai

Play Off Promozione

Maury’s Italiana Assicurazioni Tuscania will have again setter Riccardo Pinelli in the roster after a long injury, will face the favourite team of Pool Promozione in Quarterfinals Game 2 on the home turf, after losing 1-3 Game 1. BCC Castellana Grotte won all the three games versus Tuscania, two times in regular season and one in Spareggio Promozione, but the next one at PalaGrotte will be the most important one. If Bcc will win Game 2 will advance to Semifinals, where will find Bergamo or Civita Castellana.

Conad Reggio Emilia never won versus Spoleto in five official games in Serie A2, so, win Game 2 next sunday on the home turf at PalaBigi is a must for Pupo Dall’Olio’s team, if they want to force the series to Game 3. Monini Spoleto defeated clearly 3-0 Reggio Emilia at PalaRota, showing to be one of the contenders to the hunt for Superleague. Anyway Riccardo Provvedi’s team will need a pivotal game at PalaBigi, versus an opponent who will give everything to tie the series an come back in Umbria for the decisive Game 3.

Ceramica Globo Civita Castellana will need to step up and looking forward in Game 2, after the clear 0-3 loss suffered in Game 1 of Quarterfinals at PalaNorda in Bergamo. On the other hand, Caloni Agnelli Bergamo is probably the best team of this final part of the season, a team in great shape, who can really challenge all the big powerhouses of Serie A2 for the hunt for Superleague. Hoogendoorn will need 25 attacks to reach 1000 in Regular Season and Play Off.

VBC Mondovì is determined to win Game 2 and force the Quarterfinal Series to Game 3 at PalaEstra. Will be difficult for Vbc towin, also because they lost 5 of 6 games versus the team from Toscana, but at PalaManera Mondovì will give everything in front of the home fans. Emma Villas Siena has the first chance to reach semifinals. The Del Monte Italian Cup champs are a strong team able to step up in the crunch time, able to be consistant in the key moments of the season.
