2017 Champions League
All the italian teams on court next wednesday 1st march for the last game of Champions League Pools. All three italians are qualified for PlayOffs 12, with Perugia already in semifinals as Hosting team of Champions League Final Four in Roma. The only uncertain thing is Pool B first place, with Cucine Lube Civitanova who will face Berlin Recycling Volleys for the spot Number 1 in the Pool.
Friday 3rd march in the morning, in CEV offices in Luxemburg, will take place the draw of PlayOffs 12.
Azimut Modena will play at 17 live on Fox Sports at Dvorana Center Stozice in Ljubljana, Slovenia, versus Ach Volley, at the bottom of Pool D standings. Modena won in the home game at the tie break, in the very first game of the Pool, but now Tubertini’s team is sure of first place in standings, while Ach is sure of last place, but they will fight in front of the home fans.
Sir Sicoma Colussi Perugia, atop of the standings in Pool E, will face at PalaEvangelisti Halkbank Ankara, defeated by Perugia in the away game. Perugia will see the return at PalaEvangelisti of former coach Boban Kovac, who succeeded to Camillo Placì last 10th noverber on the bench of Ankara. Kovac was Coach in Perugia for 4 seasons, facing now Perugia coached by Lorenzo Bernardi, who coached Ankara in last two seasons.
At 21 on Fox Sports Plus we’ll attend the most important match of the night, Cucine Lube Civitanova – Berlin Recycling Volleys, first and second of Pool B with the same points in the standings. Gianlorenzo Blengini’s team is undefeated by 7th december in Europe, but they lost the away game in Berlin, a loss which is costing at the moment the leadership in the Pool. Now Lube is a different team, much confident, running a great moment of shape and continuity, a moment which gave to Civitanova the Italian Cup and the leadership in the Unipolsai Superleague Playoffs bracket. Will be a great game at Eurosuole Forum on tomorrow.
CHAMPIONS LEAGUE FORMAT
Two preliminary rounds (2nd e 3rd Round) will choose 20 teams for the Pool Round, 5 groups with 4 teams. First and second of each group, together with the best 2 thirds. CEV will choos the Final Four host in these 12 teams, who will be opne of the four teams, and third best tshird will replace the hosting team. Final rounds will be PlayOffs 12, PlayOffs 6 and Final Four.

2017 CEV Cup
In 2017 CEV Cup quarterfinals the two italian teams, Trentino Diatec and LPR Piacenza will face each other, in an all italian quarterfinal. Trento and Piacenza faced each other 50 times (32 wins for Trento, 18 for Piacenza), all in the italian championship. This will be the fourth all italian game in Europe for Trento, all the three previous versus Lube, in Champions League: 3-0 in 2009 Semifinals dell’edizione 2009, 2-3 and 3-0 in 2012 PlayOffs 6, and 3-0 in 2016 Semifinals.
For Piacenza will be the sixth game versus another italian team in Europe. The previous games were versus Lube in 2014 Champions League, where Piacenza eliminated Lube at golden set. In 2010 Cev Cup losing in semifinals versus Bre Banca Lannutti Cuneo, in 2008 Champions League 2008 defeating Bre Banca Lannutti Cuneo in PlayOffs 12, and after eliminating Sisley Treviso in Semifinal, and in the big final of Cev Cup 2004, losing versus Kerakoll Modena in an all Emilia Romagna’s final.
Tomorrow Lpr and Diatec Trentino will play at PalaBanca at 20.30, Game 2 will take pace wednesday 15th march at 20.30 at PalaTrento.
