SuperLega UnipolSai
Monza vs Padova on Friday

While the top teams are back in Europe, there will be an interesting league game this Friday, on which it would be difficult to make any prediction. Beaten in straight sets in Latina in the last round, Monza will try to bounce back at home against Padova. The later will try to make the double this season over Padova as they had won on a sweep at home. Each set had been tight and spectacular as both sides left it all out on the floor. But Baldovin’s men have lost some of their brilliance since, being only 12th after the recent loss against Civitanova.

Gi Group Monza – Kioene Padova

PAST ENCOUNTERS: 12 (8-4 Padova)

Christian Fromm (Gi Group Monza): “We’re extremely motivated. We have trained well this week, we analysed carefully what went wrong against Trento and Latina. We’ll need fighting spirit to stop a well-organised team like Padova but we’re keen to get going, we’ll give it all. We’ll be home and want to prove we’re better than what was seen in Latina. I’d say we have to build on our serve because we’re all excellent servers, and then the block-dig area, which did not work too well in recent games but we know we can do better ».

Stephen Maar (Kioene Padova): “We showed what we were made of against Civitanova. We had our physical problems of late, which did not help, but I think we just have to focus on training as well as we can. We need to take one game at a time, starting with Monza tomorrow. It won’t be easy, we’ll need the same determination seen last Sunday ».
