LPR Piacenza – Exprivia Molfetta 3-1 (23-25, 25-14, 25-17, 25-18)

LPR Piacenza: Hierrezuelo 10, Clevenot 15, Alletti 6, Hernandez Ramos 17, Parodi 9, Yosifov 11, Zlatanov 0, Manià (L), Tzioumakas 2. DNp. Marshall, Cottarelli, Papi, Tencati. Coach. Giuliani.

Exprivia Molfetta: Pontes Veloso 0, De Barros Ferreira 9, Polo 5, Sabbi 22, Olteanu 8, Leite Costa 2, Porcelli (L), De Pandis (L), Del Vecchio 1, Partenio 0, Vitelli 1. DNP. Hendriks, Jimenez. Coach. Gulinelli.

Without any points in the past three rounds, Piacenza got back to winning ways. In spite of a 20-18 lead they lost the first set but then took the next three. The hosts dominated on the serve (11 aces) and at the net (12 blocks). Hernandez was top scorer once again but middle blockers Alletti and Yosifov were the top contributors of the game with 3 aces apiece.

MVP Yosifov.

Simone Parodi (LPR Piacenza): “We are very happy with our performance and the result. We were coming off a difficult game and we knew it would not be easy against Molfetta. We played with a good attitude and we’re delighted we could play a good game like that for our fans ».

Giulio Sabbi (Exprivia Molfetta): “Many things did not work out, especially after the first set. Serve and reception did not go well. Now we have to get down to work in the gym and get a win quickly ».

Gi Group Monza – Calzedonia Verona 0-3 (20-25, 19-25, 21-25)

Gi Group Monza: Jovovic 3, Botto 7, Beretta 6, Hirsch 7, Fromm 11, Verhees 6, Brunetti (L), Dzavoronok 1, Galliani 0, Rizzo (L), Terpin 0. DNP. Daldello. Coach. Falasca.

Calzedonia Verona: Baranowicz 2, Kovacevic 16, Anzani 7, Djuric 15, Randazzo 8, Zingel 7, Frigo (L), Giovi (L), Lecat 0. DNP. Stern, Ferreira, Paolucci, Mengozzi. Coach. Grbic.

Monza surrendered in less than an hour and a half at home against Verona. Falasca’s men were not as brilliant as usual, especially in attack, while Grbic’s men did a great job on the counter and in the blocking department (10). Baranowicz distributed brightly and his spikers, Kovacevic, Djuric and Randazzo thanked him with some brilliant attacking plays.

MVP: Uros Kovacevic (Calzedonia Verona)

Miguel Àngel Falasca (Gi Group Monza): “Unfortunately tonight we did not manage to repeat the good performances we had in recent outings. Credit to Verona, they had an exellent game. The only thing that worked was our serve, we struggled to do the rest. This means we’ll have to work harder to try to be ready for the next games against teams of this level ».

Uros Kovacevic (Calzedonia Verona): “We proved we could play excellent volleyball, this is our second game in a row with maximum points. I am happy with the MVP title but even more for the team who had a great game ».

Bunge Ravenna – Sir Safety Conad Perugia 0-3 (23-25, 26-28, 17-25) – Bunge Ravenna: Spirito 2, Lyneel 10, Ricci 3, Torres 13, Van Garderen 15, Bossi 4, Goi (L), Grozdanov 0, Marchini 0. DNP. Leoni, Calarco, Kaminski, Raffaelli. Coach. Soli.

Sir Safety Conad Perugia: De Cecco 2, Zaytsev 13, Podrascanin 16, Atanasijevic 11, Berger 6, Birarelli 3, Tosi (L), Mitic 0, Buti 3, Russell 4. DNP. Della Lunga, Franceschini, Chernokozhev. Coach. Bernardi.

Perugia found a way to victory in the sold out PalaDeAndré too. That was their 9th victory in a row. Three sets were enough for the visitors as the hosts wasted no less than three set points in the second. Podrascanin and De Cecco were the main architects of this victory as they showed up in the clutch time. MVP: Podrascanin.

Luca Spirito (Bunge Ravenna): “We played face to face for two sets and we had a great opportunity to win the second set. Once they were 2-0 up, it was tough emotionally to get back in it. Still, we have to be satisfied of our performance. When Perugia plays at this level on the serve and at the net it’s very difficult to keep up. We have to get back on our feet as soon as possible ».

Lorenzo Bernardi (coach Sir Safety Conad Perugia): “This is an extremely valuable victory against an in-form Ravenna who will keep making it hard for many teams. Taking three points in the PalaDeAndré arena could turn out to be a huge result, especially considering how tight it is at the top. We did a great job in the difficult times, we managed to snatch this tight second set. When the opportunity to seal it came up, we took it on the bounce, while it was all much easier at the end of the third ».

Biosì Indexa Sora – Cucine Lube Civitanova 0-3 (22-25, 19-25, 17-25)

Biosì Indexa Sora: Seganov 2, Kalinin 4, Gotsev 8, Miskevich 8, Rosso 1, Sperandio 3, Santucci (L), De Marchi 5, Marrazzo 0, Tiozzo 0. DNP. Mauti, Lucarelli. Coach. Bagnoli.

Cucine Lube Civitanova: Christenson 1, Juantorena 19, Candellaro 9, Sokolov 9, Cebulj 10, Cester 4, Pesaresi 0, Grebennikov (L). DNP. Casadei, Stankovic, Corvetta, Kaliberda, Kovar. Coach. Blengini.

Once again a dominant attacking force (70%) allowed Civitanova to register another three-point victory in Sora. This was bottom against leader and the fourth consecutive games against the top teams for Sora (Modena, Trento and Perugia their last three opponents). That makes it 15 wins in 17 games for Civitanova. MVP Juantorena

Bruno Bagnoli (coach Biosì Indexa Sora): “We had a good game and only a controvertial referee decision and a lack of sharpness on the serve and block stopped us from taking the first set. Then, they put their foot on the pedal from the second set, especially with some great work from Juantorena from the 9m line. We found excellent resources from the bench and that allowed us to get back in the second, with an excellent De Marchi who served Kalinin very well. Now we have to build on those positive notes ».

Gianlorenzo Blengini (coach Cucine Lube Civitanova): “What matters is the result. We are not too satisfied, we knew it would be tough in Sora, and the first set proved it. Sora has improved a lot since we first met and you can feel a nice warm atmosphere here. We did an excellent job of taking what we needed ».

Top Volley Latina – Diatec Trentino 0-3 (19-25, 18-25, 23-25)

Top Volley Latina: Sottile 0, Klinkenberg 1, Rossi 2, Fei 10, Maruotti 11, Gitto 6, Caccioppola (L), Fanuli (L), Pistolesi 0, Strugar 1, Penchev 6, Quintana Guerra 2. DNP. Ishikawa. Coach. Bagnoli.

Diatec Trentino: Giannelli 5, Urnaut 8, Solé 11, Stokr 15, Lanza 7, Van De Voorde 10, Chiappa (L), Colaci (L), Antonov 0. DNP. Mazzone, Blasi, Burgsthaler. Coach. Lorenzetti.

Trentino came back from Latina with a comfortable 3-0 win as they led from start to finish in each of the three sets. Latina tried several times to get back into the sets but to no avail. MVP Jan Stokr

Dario Simoni (ass.coach Diatec Trentino): “I left a piece of my heart here in Latina. We needed a good game like that, even If I think that Latina is on the right track. Stokr has been playing at a high level in the last couple of games ».

Daniele Bagnoli (coach Top Volley Latina): “We definitely played better than on Monday. We’ve been close in all three sets, even if in the third set we got influenced by a foul not whistled on Giannelli. There were also some good performances from Penchev and Quintana, who came off the bench. We’ll have to build on the positive, I think we can give a game to anyone but we have to take points against the teams of our level ».

Kioene Padova – Azimut Modena 0-3 (23-25, 23-25, 19-25)

Kioene Padova: Shaw 3, Maar 7, Koncilja 3, Milan 16, Fedrizzi 8, Volpato 3, Bassanello (L), Giannotti 1, Balaso (L), Sestan 0, Averill 0, Zoppellari 0. DNP. Link. Coach. Baldovin.

Azimut Modena: Orduna 2, Ngapeth E. 12, Holt 6, Vettori 11, Petric 9, Le Roux 8, Salsi 0, Rossini (L), Onwuelo 0, Massari 0. DNP. Cook, Piano, Ngapeth S.. Coach. Piazza.

A clinical Modena got rid of Padova in straight sets in the Kioene Arena. The hosts, however, gave the Italian champs a hard time in each of the three sets. But Ngapeth’s talent, the explosive Vettori and Orduna’s distribution were the key to victory for the visitors.

MVP: Santiago Orduna (Azimut Modena)

Michele Fedrizzi (Kioene Padova): “Unlike the game against Perugia and Trento in which we had only played in the first set, tonight we managed to play at a good level during the whole game. This is extremely encouraging ahead of 2017. Now we will recharge our batteries a bit before the game against Molfetta ».

Nemanja Petric (Azimut Modena): “This was a pretty similar game to the first time we met, all the sets were tight. We just did a better job in the clutch time but the two teams have definitely made for an entertaining encounter for the fans ».

Tonno Callipo Calabria Vibo Valentia – Revivre Milano 3-0 (25-23, 25-19, 25-22)

Tonno Callipo Calabria Vibo Valentia: Coscione 1, Geiler 11, Costa 6, Michalovic 11, Barreto Silva 13, Barone 7, Torchia (L), Izzo 0, Marra (L), Diamantini 0. DNP. Rejlek, Alves Soares, Maccarone, Corrado. Coach. Kantor.

Revivre Milano: Sbertoli 2, Hoag 16, De Togni 3, Starovic 11, Skrimov 1, Galassi 4, Rudi (L), Tondo 1, Cortina (L), Marretta 6. DNP. Boninfante, Galaverna, Nielsen. Coach. Monti.

Vibo Valentia brushed aside Milan with a severe 3-0 victory. That sealed a memorable year 2016 for the southerners who were led by the trio Barreto Silva-Geiler-Marra. While the Brazilian was named MVP, the French made the difference on the serve and was extremely solid in reception. The Libero made great plays in dig and was the starting point for Vibo’s counter.

Mvp: Carlos Eduardo Barreto Silva (Tonno Callipo Calabria Vibo Valentia)

Waldo Kantor (coach Tonno Callipo Calabria Vibo Valentia): “That was not easy to play against Milan, they have top quality players. We were coming off a hard-fought victory over Molfetta with Izzo substituting Coscione. Mentally, it was tough but the boys remained focused and at times they played some brilliant volleyball ».

Luca Monti (coach Revivre Milano): “Psychologically we are not feeling good at all. We lack confidence and we can’t seem to get anything out of our serve, on the contrary, tonight it hurt us. I feel disappointed because we played a good game but it’s obvious that when you make that many mistakes, it becomes difficult ».
