TOP VOLLEY LATINA – KIOENE PADOVA 2-3 (28-26, 18-25, 25-19, 17-25, 15-17) – TOP VOLLEY LATINA: Klinkenberg 12, Fei 25, Gitto 7, Sottile 4, Pistolesi, Quintana Guerra 2, Rossi 12, Maruotti 8, Penchev 3, Fanuli (L). DNP Caccioppola, Strugar. Coach. Bagnoli.

Latina and Padova shared the points but the latter got the biggest part thanks to some brilliant blocking that helped them come back from 2-1 down to win it at the tie-break. Latina lacked consistency but still fought hard to remain in the game like in the fifth set they they bounced back from 7-2 down to 15-14 up, only to lose it 15-17.

MVP Stefano Giannotti (Kione Padova)

Alessandro Fei (Top Volley Latina): “We have to work on various fondamentals. We play well, but we have lapses and give away some points. Difficult to explain those blackouts we have, maybe a mental problem. We have to get better and make the most of our potential. I remain optimist ».

Stefano Giannotti (Kioene Padova): “This is my first win in this gym. This is a crucial victory for our young squad. We played with character, we never gave up, stayed solid, and that’s what we needed to overcome an experienced side like latina. Now we just have to focus on improving and playing good volleyball ».

BIOSì INDEXA SORA – REVIVRE MILANO 3-0 (25-18, 25-18, 25-22)

BIOSì INDEXA SORA: Marrazzo, Gotsev 8, Santucci (L), Kalinin 7, Rosso 21, Mattei 7, Seganov 2, Sperandio, Miskevich 15, De Marchi. DNP Corsetti, Tiozzo, Lucarelli, Mauti. Coach. Bagnoli.

REVIVRE MILANO: Cortina (L), Hoag 6, Galaverna, Sbertoli 4, Tondo 8, Skrimov 6, Galassi 5, Dennis 7, Marretta 3. DNP Nielsen, Rudi, De Togni, Boninfante. Coach. Monti.

Sora is back to winning ways thanks to a comfortable 3-0 over Milan. The hosts did an excellent job of putting Monti’s men under pressure, especially in reception. This was the first ever SuperLega game with an all feminine referee line-up. Rosso was MVP as he scored 21 points (3 aces, 3 blocks), while setter Seganov was brilliant. 14 overall blocks and 6 aces for Sora, as well as a nice 60% in attack. MVP Mattia Rosso (Biosì Indexa Sora)

Bruno Bagnoli (coach BioSì Indexa Sora): “Congratulations to the staff for the preparation of the game and to my players who had an excellent performance. We managed to attack very well and make the most of our break points thanks to our block-dig oragnization. We faded a little bit in the second and started a bit slow in the third but we managed to come back strong to seal it on a 3-0 score, and that can only give a boost and a good push in the standings ».

Alessandro Tondo (Revivre Milano): “We never really managed to get in the game. Credit to them for playing that well, they really made it hard for our reception, we struggled in that department. And we did not manage to contain them with our blocks. Unfortunately, that’s how it went ».

LPR PIACENZA – BUNGE RAVENNA 3-0 (25-19, 25-18, 25-23)

LPR PIACENZA: Alletti 4, Papi (L), Marshall 12, Tencati 6, Hierrezuelo 7, Hernandez Ramos 17, Clevenot 9, Cottarelli. DNP Manià, Parodi, Tzioumakas, Zlatanov, Yosifov. Coach. Giuliani.

BUNGE RAVENNA: Calarco 1, Ricci 7, Kaminski 1, Raffaelli 1, Van Garderen 5, Grozdanov 11, Goi (L), Torres 13, Bossi 3, Spirito 2, Marchini (L). DNP Leoni, Lyneel. Coach. Soli.

Severely beaten in Vibo Valentia, Piacenza bounced back and showed all its quality as it remains unbeaten at home in four games. In front of 2565 fans, Giuliani’s men beat Ravenna 3-0, the second sweep of the club’s six victories. Hernandez kept going strong with 17 points (4 aces), while Marshall shined in attack with 71% (12 points). MVP Samuele Papi (LPR Piacenza)

Aimone Alletti (LPR Piacenza): “The three points taken today are crucial. The league table was started to be divided in two, and we really wanted to stay with the top teams. We managed to do that and we’re satisfied, but on Thursday we face a very tough one against Trento. And a trip to Padova will follow on Sunday. We have to stay focused and take one game at a time ».

Luca Spirito (Bunge Ravenna): “We did not have a good game. We made mistakes in every fundamentals, starting with our dig, but also in attack and serve. We are very disappointed. We have to put his negative outing behind us and try to bounce back with a win as soon as possible ».

DIATEC TRENTINO – CUCINE LUBE CIVITANOVA 3-1 (25-19, 23-25, 25-21, 25-20)

DIATEC TRENTINO: Nelli 12, Antonov, Giannelli 7, Lanza 11, Solé 8, Van De Voorde 13, Colaci (L), Urnaut 10, Mazzone D. DNP Burgsthaler, Mazzone T, Blasi, Chiappa, Stokr. Coach. Lorenzetti.

CUCINE LUBE CIVITANOVA: Sokolov 15, Candellaro, Pesaresi (L), Kaliberda 2, Juantorena 10, Casadei 4, Stankovic 10, Kovar 1, Christenson 3, Cester 13, Grebennikov, Corvetta, Cebulj 4. Coach. Blengini.

The big match of this tenth round was as exciting as expected. Trentino made the most of its court advantage and grabbed the victory. Civitanova was defeated but proved the fact they were top of the league before today was no fluck. There were almost two hours of superb volleyball in front of 4000 fans as Trento moves above the rest in the standings. The middle blockers Van De Voorde and Solé had an excellent impact, well used by Giannelli on the break. Civitanova was unlucky to lose Sokolov through injury in the third set, he had been their best player until then. Civitanova’s five away game winning streak is therefore over. MVP: Simone Giannelli (Diatec Trentino)

Angelo Lorenzetti (Coach Diatec Trentino): “I always say that we should neither get too excited nor put our heads down when we win or lose, but tonight I am really happy because the boys had a really solid game. Not only we won today but we learnt something new : when our serve started to be shaky, we found other weapons to put a strong team like Civitanova in trouble. We have been more efficient in dig than in the past, we adapted well to their speed. I want to thank Simone Giannelli because he was not hundred percent today but worked hard all the same ».

Gianlorenzo Blengini (Coach Cucine Lube Civitanova): “When you lose you keep remembering the negative plays like missed serves, but I think other aspects made the difference tonight. Trento did a better job than us on the counter. In the fourth set, we had managed to catch them up, then we had various opportunites but for one reason or another we did not manage to convert. Same thing that happened in the first set. Trentino has been playing extremely well, we knew it was going to be hard, we tried to resist, but we managed to play our game only in flashes ».

EXPRIVIA MOLFETTA – AZIMUT MODENA 3-1 (25-27, 25-21, 25-20, 26-24)

EXPRIVIA MOLFETTA: Polo 8, Vitelli 9, Partenio, Del Vecchio, De Barros Ferreira 13, Pontes Veloso 1, Olteanu 14, Sabbi 32, De Pandis (L). DNP Jimenez, Porcelli, Hendriks, Di Martino. Coach. Gulinelli.

AZIMUT MODENA: Cook 7, Petric 14, Orduna 1, Massari 9, Rossini (L), Ngapeth E 2, Le Roux 6, Piano 3, Holt 9, Vettori 13. DNP Ngapeth S, Onwuelo, Salsi. Coach. Piazza.

Molfetta had the better of the Italian Champions in four sets. It’s been a spectacular game in a special atmosphere with the fans who could not wait for this first big match of the season in Molfetta. Some might have expected a one-way traffic encounter but instead all the sets were tight. Modena was unlucky to be able to use Ngapeth only here and there as he was not fit. Sabbi was named MVP, 5 aces and 4 blocks, 60% in attack for a total of 32 points.

Giulio Sabbi (Exprivia Molfetta): “We showed great character, turning things around from 1-0 down to win it in four sets. At the end of the third set, I clearly told the boys it would not be acceptable to lose it. Once again the crowd was exceptional. It’s been a memorable day but let’s not get carried away, we have to keep playing like that ».

Roberto Piazza (coach Azimut Modena): “We lost an opportunity to take at least a point. I think the key was not keeping our lead in the second set, that gave Molfetta confidence. And they were led by an outstanding Sabbi. They did an excellent job at the net, while we did not convert enough on the counter ».

CALZEDONIA VERONA – TONNO CALLIPO CALABRIA VIBO VALENTIA 2-3 (23-25, 25-23, 23-25, 25-19, 12-15)

CALZEDONIA VERONA: Zingel 9, Kovacevic 25, Lecat 5, Ferreira 6, Giovi (L), Baranowicz 2, Mengozzi 9, Djuric 20, Anzani 3. DNP Paolucci, Holt, Frigo, Stern. Coach. Giani.

TONNO CALLIPO CALABRIA VIBO VALENTIA: Costa 8, Coscione 3, Marra (L), Geiler 13, Michalovic 7, Barreto Silva 17, Barone 8, Alves Soares, Diamantini 4, Rejlek 16. DNP Buzzelli, Torchia. Coach. Kantor.

Recently defeated by Trento, Verona was beaten again by Vibo Valentia who made it three consecutive wins following the ones over Padova and Piacenza. The fifth set was a carbon copy of the encounter : Verona who could not hold off Vibo in spite of a four-point lead. MVP : Manuel Coscione.

Manuel Coscione (Tonno Callipo Vibo Valentia): “I think this is a great result, never easy to win in Verona. We had a good game, we never slowed down, and that is a good characteristic from this group. I have great memories from Verona, I spent a fantastic season and my son was born here. A city I’ll always have in my heart ».

Andrea Giani (coach Calzedonia Verona): “I think in spite of being ahead we lacked composure to win the tie-break. Unfortunately, this is the kind of defeat that hurt your confidence, it was an important game we needed to win. Our goal is to be among the top four in the table. What we have to focus on right now is how to work all together to get out of this three game losing streak, knowing that we have two difficult ones coming. We have to learn from that to become more mature as a team ».

GI GROUP MONZA – SIR SAFETY CONAD PERUGIA 0-3 (21-25, 20-25, 14-25)

GI GROUP MONZA: Fromm 5, Dzavoronok 2, Daldello, Galliani 4, Rizzo (L), Forni 1, Jovovic 2, Botto 4, Verhees 6, Beretta 2, Hirsch 14. DNP Terpin, Brunetti. Coach. Falasca.

SIR SAFETY CONAD PERUGIA: Buti 1, Chernokozhev 1, Russell 7, Zaytsev 13, Mitic 1, Atanasijevic 12, De Cecco 5, Bari (L), Birarelli 1, Podrascanin 11. DNP Tosi, Franceschini, Della Lunga, Berger. Coach. Bernardi.

Over four thousand fans pushed the home side but that was not enough for Monza who was defeated 3-0 by Perugia, who just appointed Lorenzo Bernardi as new head coach. There were a lot of important people watching the game like

Valentina Diouf, Claudio Galli and many others but what was expected to be an interesting match-up eventually ended in less than an hour and a half. An inspired Zaytsev (13 points, 4 aces, 1 block) was named MVP of the game. Botto and co only had two aces.

Simon Hirsch (Gi Group Monza): “We’re really disappointed, we really hoped we could have another good one after the win over Modena. Perugia is a top team and tonight they proved it. We already knew it but tonight was a confirmation that if you don’t play your best volleyball against such team you have no chance. Our serve did not work as well as usual, they were able to attack freely. This won’t change anything for us, we have to keep working with determination because on Friday there’s another important game against Molfetta ».

Ivan Zaytsev (Sir Safety Conad Perugia): “We played with confidence and had a solid performance. We stayed composed and took this important win. Our new coach gave us some « principles » which immediately re-organised things after his appointment on the bench a few days back. We followed his instructions with conviction. We’ll keep working hard with this fighting spirit, there is a long way to go ».
