Seventh consecutive victory in the SuperLega for Trentino, who keeps up with the leaders. Lorenzetti’s men had the better of Milan who gave it a try for a set and a half before surrendering. The most difficult moment of the game for the hosts was in the first set when they were 22-24 down. Urnaut, Lanza and Van De Voorde, who had just come on, helped Trento turn it around and win it 29-27. Giannelli then guided his teammates to perfection. Milan just couldn’t keep up.
Tine Urnaut (Diatec Trentino): “We started off a bit tense, but we got back in it and never gave up. Winning that first set helped us step up a gear and fly towards an important 3-0 win before preparing our next game ».
Gianluca Galassi (Revivre Milano): “Playing in the Palatrento arena for me who came up in their youth academy was an incredible emotion. Unfortunately, I could not combine the memory with a good result. Trento gave it all and prevented us from winning any sets. We showed some good things in the first set but that was not enough ».

The big crowd that came to see the match against Verona lived an emotional minute silence to pay tribute to Antonio Barone before pushing its team to a sweep. Modena was imperial and though Kovacevic and co tried their best in the third, the hosts were never to be caught.
MVP Maxwell Philip Holt (Azimut Modena)
Roberto Piazza (Coach Azimut Modena): “We had a great game against a great team. I had told the boys to pay particular attention to certain fundamentals and I have to say they did pretty well. I congratulated them. Now we have to focus on Monza ».
Andrea Giani (Coach Calzedonia Verona): “We played against a great team, we knew it was going to be very tough. We lacked the needed compsure to contain Modena in the clutch time of the game ».

Monza’s determination and fighting spirit led to a come-back victory from 2-1 down. Coach Falasca was happy to have Jovovic and Hirsch back in this first ever home win over Ravenna since it is in the top division. Monza took the first set but then Grozdanov, who came on for the injured Lyneel, led his team to a 2-1 edge. Setter Spirito and Torres were inspired but in the fourth set the hosts reacted with character. Jovovic served with consistency Botto, Fromm and Beretta to tie it at 2-2. In the tie-break, MVP verhees blocked Torres for a 14-12 lead, while Fromm took care of scoring the winning point.
Christian Fromm (Gi Group Monza): “These are two crucial points. We started off with maximum focus, but then we could not stop their determined come-back. In the fourth set and in the tie-break, however, we played with heart. This team is first and foremost a great group who proved once again it could find a way in the difficult times. We’ll enjoy this win before starting to prepare for Modena from Tomorrow ».
Maurice Torres (Bunge Ravenna): “The too many mistakes and the fact we faded an the end prevented us from taking the three points. We lacked energy at the start, then we got back in it with character. In the end, though, we lacked consistency, especially on the serve, and Monza took advantage to win it. This defeat hurts, we have to put it behind us as quickly as possible given that we have another important game against Civitanova on Wednesday ».

Alberto Giuliani (Coach LPR Piacenza): “It’s become a tradition to play such battles here in our PalaBanca arena. Today we had moments of brilliance as well as poor spells. We have to work to play good volleyball with consistency. In the third set, we faced some difficulties and unconsciously slowed down. We play every three days, we don’t have much time to work, but we’re very happy with today’s three points ».
Daniele Sottile (Top Volley Latina): “It was very tight from the start. In the first set, we went in front a couple of times but the talent of some players made the difference. Hernandez got the decisive break while in the second set we wasted too many opportunities. Shame the thrid set went like that… another chance that was not taken ».

The rest of the points would go to Civitanova’s way. MVP Osmany Juantorena (Cucine Lube Civitanova)
Osmany Juantorena (Cucine Lube Civitanova): “At the start of the game, we really found it hard to receive their serve, but then we found a way back in it and took extremeley important points. That was not easy to come back from 2-0 down against a team like Perugia. This proves we have character. We have also got to thank our amazing supporters, who gave us a great hand when we needed it most ».
Slobodan Kovac (Coach Sir Safety Conad Perugia): “We played brilliant volleyball until 22 all in the third set. Our serve stopped working and we lost our way in other fundamentals too. On the contrary, civitanova started to play superb volleyball and came back ».
