Del Monte® SuperCup Presentation
A press conference took place this morning to present the Del Monte SuperCup, to be played September 24-25 in Modena’s PalaPanini arena.
This edition brings in a new formula with four participants: the best according to European qualifications, meaning three teams that qualified for the Champions League (Modena, Perugia and Civitanova) and the one that qualified for the CEV Cup (Trento).
The new season will kick off where it had left off: in Modena, where the hosts won the Italian national championship. Modena is also the holder of the SuperCup, 2015 was their second triumph in this competition in the 21 years of history. Trento won it twice too (2011-2013), Civitanova won it four times, while this will be Perugia’s full debut.
On court there will be the Mikasa 200 ball, which will be under the watchful eye of the Video Check System. This year, and during the whole season both in SuperLega and Serie A2, the coaches will be able to ask to check the touches at the net.
