SuperLega UnipolSai results:

Tonazzo Padova-Diatec Trentino 2-3 (30-28, 24-26, 25-22, 19-25, 9-15); DHL Modena-Calzedonia Verona 3-2 (25-19, 21-25, 21-25, 25-18, 18-16); Sir Safety Conad Perugia-Revivre Milano 3-0 (25-21, 25-17, 25-17); Gi Group Monza-Ninfa Latina – 19/01/2016 at 20:30 Live on RAI Sport 1; LPR Piacenza-Cucine Lube Banca Marche Civitanova 1-3 (25-22, 23-25, 22-25, 17-25); CMC Romagna-Exprivia Molfetta 3-1 (26-24, 21-25, 25-19, 25-22)

SIR SAFETY CONAD PERUGIA – REVIVRE MILANO 3-0 (25-21, 25-17, 25-17) – SIR SAFETY CONAD PERUGIA: Buti 5, Fromm 9, De Cecco 4, Giovi (L), Russell 12, Elia 8, Franceschini, Atanasijevic 15, Fanuli. DNP Holt, Kaliberda, Dimitrov, Tzioumakas. Coach. Kovac.

REVIVRE MILANO: Milushev, Alletti 6, Sbertoli, Skrimov 16, Russomanno Dos Santos 5, Tosi (L), De Togni 3, Baranek 3, Boninfante 2. DNP Gavenda, Rivan, Marretta. Coach. Monti.

Convincing first home win in 2016 for Perugia in the SuperLega against Milan. Birarelli was out with the flu but the hosts did the job without any worry as Elia was a worthy substitute. Kaliberda could rest too as the pair Fromm-Russell played just fine. The MVP however was De Cecco whose touch of brilliance greatly helped the Perugia spikers to find their flow.

Alessandro Franceschini (Sir Safety Conad Perugia): “It’s been a great feeling to get on court with this shirt on, then the applause and the fans singing… We did a good job of not letting Milan any chance. We maintained a high level of concentration in spite of playing just a couple of days after our last match. I am personally extremely satisfied, with the turnover too. On the one hand, we felt the faith and support of the fans, and then we also proved that when needed we’re ready to play”.

Filip Gavenda (Revivre Milano): “Perugia is an extremely strong team, and today they really did not let us play in any of the sets. These two weeks are very tough for us. In the next round, we’ll face Modena, who will definitely made it difficult for us. Anyway, we’ll keep doing our job and try to obtain the best possible results against the teams that we can beat”.

LPR PIACENZA – CUCINE LUBE BANCA MARCHE CIVITANOVA 1-3 (25-22, 23-25, 22-25, 17-25) – LPR PIACENZA: Coscione 3, Kohut 7, Ter Horst 3, Perrin 18, Papi (L), Patriarca 10, Zlatanov 14, Luburic 7, Tencati, Tavares Rodrigues. DNP Sedlacek, Lampariello, Cottarelli. Coach. Giuliani.

CUCINE LUBE BANCA MARCHE CIVITANOVA: Fei 24, Parodi 2, Juantorena 16, Stankovic 6, Christenson 3, Cester 4, Grebennikov (L), Miljkovic 1, Corvetta, Cebulj 7, Podrascanin 10. DNP Gabriele, Vitelli. Coach. Blengini.

Piacenza lost in four sets against Civitanova. Former Piacenza star, Fei, had an outstanding game and was named MVP with 24 points scored. Still, the hosts showed the kind of character that had been lacking in the past. They won the opening set and gave it a great fight in the next two.

Alberto Giuliani (coach LPR Piacenza): “I noticed some progress from the team. The new preparation we have put in place during the break seems to be giving good results. Zlatanov was good, we have to improve our attack with our outside hitter though. This position is too important, we need more from it”.

Alessandro Fei (Cucine Lube Banca Marche Civitanova): “We had a great game. We made too many mistakes at the start but found our way back in the game. Piacenza kept making it tough for us, they played with more intensity and passion than in past encounters. But in the end we managed to come away with the three points”.

TONAZZO PADOVA – DIATEC TRENTINO 2-3 (30-28, 24-26, 25-22, 19-25, 9-15) – TONAZZO PADOVA: Cook 4, Leoni, Orduna 3, Giannotti 4, Balaso (L), Bassanello, Quiroga 7, Volpato 12, Averill 12, Berger 20, Milan 15, Diamantini, Lazzaretto. Coach. Baldovin.

DIATEC TRENTINO: Nelli, Antonov 1, Bratoev 4, De Angelis, Giannelli 5, Lanza 13, Solé 8, Djuric 30, Colaci (L), Van De Voorde 4, Urnaut 14, Mazzone 4. DNP Mazzone. Coach. Stoytchev.

Trentino came out on top in Padova at the end of a hard-fought game in which the hosts had cancelled out two set balls in the first and then led 2-1 before surrendering at the tie-break. In the end, MVP Djuric was the difference in attack, he led his team to a difficult but crucial win.

Valerio Baldovin (coach Tonazzo Padova): «We’re a bit disappointed we lost it because the boys played good volleyball today. They managed to trouble a great team like Trento. Our goal is to be consistent. We’ll have to play at the same level against Piacenza”.

Mitar Djuric (Diatec Trentino): «We knew it was going to be a tough game. We had found it hard against Molfetta too and today Padova played some excellent volleyball. They played great dig and made it hard for us. This is a very important win for us, but we have to play better if we want to go far”.

CMC ROMAGNA – EXPRIVIA MOLFETTA 3-1 (26-24, 21-25, 25-19, 25-22) – CMC ROMAGNA: Mengozzi 12, Ricci 13, Cavanna 5, Della Lunga 1, Van Garderen 4, Polo, Koumentakis 8, Goi (L), Torres 21, Boswinkel, Bari (L), Perini De Aviz. DNP Zappoli. Coach. Kantor.

EXPRIVIA MOLFETTA: Kaczynski, Candellaro 4, Spadavecchia 1, Randazzo 4, Mariella, Del Vecchio 9, De Barros Ferreira 1, Barone 5, De Pandis (L), Hierrezuelo 5, Fedrizzi 10, Hernandez Ramos 19. DNP Porcelli. Coach. Montagnani.

First game of 2016 and first home victory of the season in Ravenna for CMC Romagna. A deserved win in which the hosts dominated for most of the game except for the second set. The Molfetta stars seemed to play with heavy legs, maybe due to their five-setter against Trento in the cup on Thursday. The Romagna middle blockers had a great game: MVP Mengozzi scored 12 points (6 blocks) and Ricci 13 (3 blocks). Torres shined too with 21 points.

Michele Fedrizzi (Exprivia Molfetta): “Unfortunately, the five sets played in Trento a few days ago had an influence on today’s game, we were physically tired. We did not underestimate CMC, we have not been effective in attack. Unfortunately, we have not been at our best in any department, and Romagna deserved the victory”.

Waldo Kantor (Coach CMC Romagna): “We played a good game. I am glad we managed to put in practice the things we had prepared tactically. The middle blockers have been outstanding and Torres did his part, all the others too to be honest. I am delighted because that was an important game for us and we won it”.

DHL MODENA – CALZEDONIA VERONA 3-2 (25-19, 21-25, 21-25, 25-18, 18-16) – DHL MODENA: Mossa De Rezende 6, Petric 4, Casadei, Rossini (L), Sartoretti, Ngapeth 16, Nikic 7, Piano 5, Bossi 1, Saatkamp 18, Vettori 14. DNP Donadio, Soli, Sighinolfi. All. Lorenzetti.

CALZEDONIA VERONA: Zingel 14, Pesaresi (L), Gitto, Lecat 11, Spirito 1, Baranowicz 2, Starovic 10, Bellei, Sander 23, Anzani 11. DNP Kovacevic, Frigo, Bucko. Coach. Giani.

Former Modena star Uros Kovacevic received a standing ovation. The host got off to a strong start and won the first set. Verona fought back and even took the lead in the third. But Modena stepped up in the first few rallies of the fourth and clinched a tight tie-break in an infinite battle, 18-16. MVP Lucas Saatkamp (DHL Modena)

Angelo Lorenzetti (Coach DHL Modena): “We won an extremely difficult game against a team that played some good volleyball and made it very hard for us. More top level action awaits us with a trip to Danzica in the Champions League on Wednesday”.

Andrea Giani (Coach Calzedonia Verona): “We lost against a superb team. They did a great job in the clutch time. It’s never enjoyable to lose but we’ll do our best to bounce back in the next game. Today we proved we could give a game to anyone”.
