The Serie A2 remains very tight. Only the leader Vibo and Sora seems to be above the rest with eight wins each in 9 games.
Beaten in the last round away, Cantù lost its fifth place. They will play host to Brescia, on a second consecutive road game after the 3-1 loss against Sora. Cantù will want to build on the good performance from its youngsters and the determination shown on the serve, while Cisolla and co want to prove they can give a game to anyone.
The players of Club Italia are keen to bounce back from Sunday’s defeat against Tuscania as they only have a two point advantage on the bottom team. The reborn Ortona is the visiting side, who’s coming off a 3-0 win over Mondovì.
Castellana Grotte will enjoy a second home game in a row. After its win over Alessano, they will play host to the newly promoted Civita Castellana, currently third in the table after their 3-1 win over Siena. Eight years on, setter Adriano Paolucci will play against his former club as his team hunts for a seventh victory.
Without a point since round 7, Mondovì can’t wait to get back on track but after its latest defeat in Ortona, they take on the league leaders Vibo Valentia. The latter lost the opening game of the season then went on a run of eight consecutive wins, the latest against Reggio Emilia.
On the heel of Italy, there will be Alessano versus Potenza Picena. Beaten in the derby in Castellana Grotte, the team from the Salento area want to find a way to stop Graziosi’s men, on a three-game winning streak with the last one coming against Cantù.
Fourth in the table thanks to its away win in Rome over Club Italia, Tuscania will be home against Siena, stopped in the last round on the road against Civita Castellana after a run of three straight wins. Special game for Andrea Marchisio who was an idol of the Tuscania fans last season.
Given that the PalaBigi arena is momentarily not available, the game between Reggio Emilia, currently bottom, and Sora, second, was postponed to Tuesday 22 December. With middle blocker Davide Benaglia back in the group, Reggio will try to get out of its crisis, while Sora will do its best to put pressure on the leader Vibo.
