Four years on, Trentino is back in a European Cup final. Winners of three Champions League from 2009 to 2011, the Italians will try to enrich their trophy cabinet with a first CEV Cup when they take on Dinamo Moscow in April. The first leg will be in Italy on April 7 while the return leg will be in Russia on April 11.
Trentino had made its first step towards that final with a tie-break win in Poland, and they finished the job off at home with a superb Kaziyski (MVP) who scored 8 aces for a total of 18 points. Solé has been brilliant of late too, he collected 6 blocks and registered 89% in attack.
Radostin Stoytchev (coach Energy T.I. Diatec Trentino): “I am extremely satisfied with the result, level of play, the reaction and qualification to the final. A great night of volleyball. We deservedly qualified, we gave everything we had both in the first and return leg, we proved we were stronger than the already very strong Zaksa team. The boys have done a great job of winning the three tough games we had this week, starting with the one in Modena and finishing today. We’ll have some even more difficult ones ahead but we’re on the right track”.
The league game between Trento and Monza, initially scheduled on Sunday 29, has been postponed to Wednesday April 1.
