Before the game , Petric received his MVP award for the month of January, while the MVP of this latest Modena victory over Piacenza was Earvin Ngapeth.

Angelo Lorenzetti (coach Modena Volley): “It’s been a very tough game, we did a great job not to lose our mind when we received two reds in the fourth set. We knew at that time we could not play perfect volleyball, and I decided to throw in the mix Kovacevic and Ngapeth. I am really glad we’re getting everybody back to fitness thanks to the great work done by the athletic trainers and medical staff”.

Andrea Radici (coach Copra Piacenza): “Modena proved it was a great team, but I am glad we pushed Bruno and co to the limits to win this game. Congratulations to my boys, we went very close from the tie-break. We know from this performance that we can do great things”.

ENERGY T.I. DIATEC TRENTINO – CMC RAVENNA 3-0 (25-16, 25-20, 25-17)

ENERGY T.I. DIATEC TRENTINO: Kaziyski 6, Birarelli 8, Zygadlo 4, Nemec 12, Lanza 18, Solé 6, Mazzone 1, Colaci (L), Fedrizzi, Burgsthaler. DNP Nelli, Thei, Giannelli. Coach. Stoytchev.

CMC RAVENNA: Mengozzi 2, Ricci 6, Cavanna 2, Gabriele, Jeliazkov 2, Koumentakis 1, Goi (L), Zanatta Buiatti 7, Bari (L), Mc Kibbin, Cebulj 11. DNP Zappoli, Patriarca, Cester. Coach. Kantor.

Trentino stays top of the league table thanks to a sweep over Ravenna. Yet another convincing performance from Stoytchev’s men who remain unbeaten at home. Ravenna’s reception was too inaccurate to have any hope to disturb the hosts, who always managed to escape even before the halfway point of the sets. MVP Lanza shined in attack with 3 aces, one block, 78% at the net for a total of 18 points.

Filippo Lanza (Energy T.I. Diatec Trentino): “We played an excellent game as a team. The fact we had a full week to train without any games allowed us to work on our game and understanding. Everything went to perfection tonight, our serve and blocking have been especially sharp”.

Andrea Bari (CMC Ravenna): “Going back to Trento is always a nice feeling but I would have preferred a more convincing performance from my team. But we’re stuck in a negative run, we can’t seem to find our game right now. And indeed I felt like the opponents who used to come to the PalaTrento arena when I played there: I knew from the start it would be extremely tough to get any points out of it and the outcome confirmed my fears”.

TONAZZO PADOVA – ALTOTEVERE CITTà DI CASTELLO-SANSEPOLCRO 3-0 (25-16, 25-23, 25-23) – TONAZZO PADOVA: Mattei 7, Orduna 1, Giannotti 17, Balaso (L), Rosso 8, Volpato 2, Garghella, Aguillard 5, Quiroga 14. DNP Vianello, Gozzo, Milan, Beccaro. Coach. Baldovin.

ALTOTEVERE CITTà DI CASTELLO-SANSEPOLCRO: Franceschini, Lensi, Corvetta 1, Dolfo 1, Tosi (L), Della Lunga 6, Aganits 4, Maric 8, Randazzo 22, Mazzone 4. DNP Teppan, Daldello. Coach. Polidori.

In this crucial game for two teams standing at the bottom part of the table, Padova overcame Città di Castello in straight sets in front of 2500 fans.

MVP Stefano Giannotti.

Valerio Baldovin (coach Tonazzo Padova): “The attitude we had when we came from behind to win the third set is exactly what we need. Overall, we played an excellent game. The difference with other games is that we have been more consistent. The hard work during the week has finally paid off”.

Fausto Polidori (coach Altotevere Città di Castello-Sansepolcro): “We have to work on our mental approach, especially in the difficult moments when we have to find a reaction. We have clear problems in reception and this is the basis of all our problems. Right now, we just have to focus on playing to the maximum of our potential”.

CUCINE LUBE BANCA MARCHE TREIA – REVIVRE MILANO 3-1 (18-25, 25-19, 27-25, 25-19) – CUCINE LUBE BANCA MARCHE TREIA: Fei, Henno (L), Parodi 9, Paparoni (L), Stankovic 10, Kovar 2, Sabbi 19, Monopoli, Bonacic, Kurek 11, Baranowicz 2, Podrascanin 10. DNP Shumov. Coach. Giuliani.

REVIVRE MILANO: Bencz 14, Kauliakamoa Jr, Temponi Araujo, Patriarca 8, Rizzo (L), Mattera 3, Dos Santos 11, Veres 18, Preti, Valsecchi 4. DNP Bermudez, Cerbo, De Togni. Coach. Maranesi.

No surprise as Treia disposed of Milan in four sets but taking the three points has not been all that easy for the Italian champions. Huge applause to the club who decided to give half the takings of this game (over 5 thousand Euros) to a project to build a new clinic for diagnosis and follow up of congenital heart diseases in the infant pediatric ward of the Civitanova Marche Hostpital. As for the game, Sabbi was unstoppable (19 points, 70% and 3 aces) and was named MVP of the game.

Alberto Giuliani (coach Cucine Lube Banca Marche Treia): “We had to decide with the medical staff whether we could send Kurek on court or not. He trained this morning but we did not want to force it. But then we had no choice because we lacked cover and Kovar was not having a good day, and I have to say that except for the reception, Bartosz had a good game. I did not like the start of the game, it was not easy after Wednesday’s defeat. But we got loose in the second set and played better. It was important not to lose any points, especially now. Next week in Sansepolcro it will be even harder, we’ll have to be extremely careful, especially considering the fact we’ll be back from Poland on Friday. To get a result against Belchatiow away, we’ll need to be play our best volleyball and be 100% both mentally and physically. We believe in our chances and you could see tonight the boys already had their mind on Thursday’s game”.

Stefano Patriarca (Revivre Milano): “If we’d been a little more careful at the end of the third set, we might have been able to take a point, and that would have been a breakthrough. We’re disappointed we couldn’t do it, but happy with the fact we gave a hard time to the Italian champions”.

VERO VOLLEY MONZA – EXPRIVIA NELDIRITTO MOLFETTA 1-3 (25-21, 22-25, 19-25, 21-25) VERO VOLLEY MONZA: Procopio (L), Elia 1, Gotsev 7, Botin, Tiberti, Galliani 8, Padura Diaz 14, De Pandis (L), Jovovic 3, Vigil Gonzalez 8, Botto 9, Bonetti 3. DNP Wang. Coach. Vacondio.

EXPRIVIA NELDIRITTO MOLFETTA: Candellaro 5, Noda Blanco, Sket 23, Del Vecchio 5, Romiti (L), Bossi 3, Hierrezuelo 10, Despaigne Jurquin, Torres 23, Piscopo 9. DNP Spirito, Blagojevic, Porcelli. Coach. Di Pinto.

The momentum built in the recent successful outings was not enough for Monza, although it did win the first set with determination. Molfetta was well-organised and registered a fourth victory in its last five encounters. The visitors had no less than 14 aces, with Hierrezuelo and Sket scoring five apiece.

MVP: Raydel Hierrezuelo.

Oreste Vacondio (coach Vero Volley Monza): “We just can’t concede 18 points in reception. If we had received better, it would probably have been a different game. Besides, when you have a poor reception, the team spirit is altered too. We have not been ourselves today. I’m sorry because I’m sure we could have done much more”.

Vincenzo Di Pinto (coach Exprivia Neldiritto Molfetta): “Winning is the only thing that mattered today. It was a game with two teams worried about each other. Monza was coming off a great run but we maintained a high level of focus throughout. Our serve was key I think, except for a little spell in the second set, we have been very effective”.
