Marco Meoni received a special welcome on his first game back after two years out of action but Monza ruined the party with a third straight victory. The trio Padura Diaz-Galliani-Botto was unstoppable, they combined for 56 points, while Gotsev chipped in 10. The Monza players proved extremely united in the difficult spells. Andrea Radici (Coach Copra Piacenza): “It’s been an extremely hard-fought encounter. In spite of the result, I am satisfied with the boys. Unfortunately, we’re still in the middle of a revolution. The good things seen in training have not paid off yet. There’s been a lot of digs, but right now we’re not capable of doing more. We needed some better serving and the ability to seal the sets in our favour when it was tight”.
Oreste Vacondio (Coach Vero Volley Monza): “We’ve been doing well of late, this is our third victory in a row after 11 consecutive defeats. This is a great result for the team: the players pull together and that is a great sign, especially after conceding 11 straight losses. The players and staff really get along fine”.
