Same again in the final
Cucine Lube Banca Marche Macerata – Itas Assicurazioni Trentino
Just like in 2013, the final of the Del Monte Junior League will put face to face Macerata and Trentino. The two teams dominated their respective group before making their way to the title game. This will be the third final in a row for Macerata. The game will be live on Sportube.tv at 3.30pm. Cuneo and Monza will play for the bronze medal.
Semi-finals
Itas Assicurazioni Trentino – MC Vero Volley Monza 3-0 (25-14, 25-22, 25-16)
In Potenza Picena’s Palaprincipi arena, Trentino started off strong (9-5). Monza tried to come-back with Arasomwan’s points but Mazzone led Trento to a solid lead and first set victory.
A lot happening in the second set but once again, Conci’s men came out on top. Monza had come back from an early 8-3 down to even lead 21-20. But Fumagalli’s men lost their composure in the clutch time.
Great battle at the start of the third set. But Mazzone and co were superb in attack and holding on fine at the net. And this was yet another block that had Trento celebrating. Trento goes in the final having won 15 sets and lost only one (vs Cuneo).
Cucine Lube Banca Marche Macerata – Bre Lannutti Cuneo 3-1 (21-25, 25-21, 25-18, 25-12)
In Loreto, Cuneo took the early initiatives (12-8) but two mistakes got Macerata within one before Di Silvestre tied it at 16. At 19 all, Cuneo’s serve and counter made the difference.
Macerata’s reaction began the second set with some blocks. Vecchi’s point made it 9-5 while Vitelli’s block led to a 5-point lead (11-6). But Cuneo was not done, it fought back and regained the lead on an ace (16-15). More blocks got Macerata back ahead, and for good.
Cuneo made a lot of mistakes to start the third (3-6 then 4-10). Rosichini and co would never let go of this early lead.
Macerata had the momentum and was close to another final. They started off strong in the fourth set, and hitting the serve well too (10-6 on a Fabi ace). Macerata showed off its skills at the net with 7 blocks. They escaped on the scoreboard and would never be pegged back.
