Gazzetta Award 2013/2014
Atanasijevic wins 42nd edition
Aleksandar Atanasijevic is the winner of the “Gazzetta Award 2014”. Perugia’s strong spiker, the number one in the Serie A1 at the end of the regular season, obtained the prestigious prize of the pink daily sport paper thought out in 1973 by Carlo Gobbi, dean of journalism on Italian Volleyball. The “Gazzetta Award” is given to the best player of the regular season elected by the reporters of the “Gazzetto dello Sport”.
The award will be handed to Atanasijevic on the occasion of the playoffs semi-finals game 2, scheduled on Wednesday April 9 at 8.30 in Perugia (live on RAI Sport 2).

Playoffs Serie A1 UnipolSai
Casa Modena – Cucine Lube Banca Marche Macerata
(0-1)
A Sold out crowd is ready to spur Modena on in the semi-final game 2 against Macerata. The latter won the opening encounter 3-0 in Osimo. If Zaytsev and co were to win this second game as well, this would be a giant step towards qualification (first to three wins). However, the two first sets decided by the minimum margin must serve as an encouragement for Lorenzetti’s men, who know they can be more accurate and composed than in game 1.
Past encounters: 65 (33-32 Modena)
Regular season: 2 (Macerata won both, 3-2 home, 3-0 away).
Playoffs: 15 meetings, 6 quarters (3 each), 9 semis (6-3 Modena)
Andrea Sartoretti (GM Casa Modena): “We had a good opening game, but we did not make the most of the opportunities we created. In game 2, we’ll not only need to come out on top when it’s going to be tight, but also convert the few opportunities they will concede. Our gym will be packed, there is a good atmosphere in the city. Macerata is extremely strong, in game 1 they won by playing as a team, with all those stars playing together as a unit. We’ll have to stay focused at all time on our side of the net and on what we can and have to do”. <o
